The item I chose to make for February is Fetching by Cheryl Niamath. These fingerless gloves are knitted in an aran yarn which knits up quickly. I chose Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran which is 100% Merino and wonderfully soft, and which I already had in my stash.
There were lots of techniques in this pattern which I hadn't attempted before. I had never knit cables, nor had I worked a picot bind off. In fact, I'd never had a go at gloves or mittens before, so it was an education knitting on to a spare piece of yarn then pulling the yarn out again in order to knit the thumb, but I managed it.
I love this pattern Jo........I have it queued on my ravelry page. You made a great job of knitting these.......better hide them from your daughter, lol. x
ReplyDeleteWell done Jo! It looks like you've achieved something pretty complicated there, and learnt some new tricks too!
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely and the colour is so pretty.

ReplyDeleteYou are very clever Jo - these mitts are gorgeous! I love the colour too. Maybe now I have the time, knitting is something I will have to re-discover.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your lovely comments.
ReplyDeleteLily - Push them to the front of the queue, they're really lovely to knit and don't take long at all.
Gill - Thank you. I enjoyed learning something new.
Scarlet - I've wanted to knit a cable pattern for a long time. There isn't much cabling in this pattern, but it's a start.
Susan - They're ideal for cooler days, or for wearing when you need your fingers free.
Lisa - Thank you. I enjoyed knitting them.
Mum - I loved the colour of the wool when I bought it, I knew it would come in for something.
Jan - Thank you. I think I'll knit a pair for myself.
Anne - You're welcome. I hope you remembered all the happy times you've shared.
Jackie - Thank you for visiting. There'll be lots of rediscovery, I'm sure, during your gap year.
Those are lovely, I keep promising myself I will knit a pair myself but now we are nearly in Spring I think they will have to wait til autumn now!
