Happy Birthday, Mum

Here's my mum as a little girl.

Today, she's 80 years young.

I called round this morning to take her cards and presents. Unfortunately, she isn't up to celebrating, her arm's still Black and Blue and she's still in a lot of pain with it. We'll make sure that we do lots of celebrating when she feels better.

Happy birthday, Mum.

  1. Ahh that is a shame Jo but I am sure she appreciated you coming around this morning and will make up for it when she is feeling better.

    1. Her arm is still very bruised but it does look as though it's getting a bit better, but it's still so painful. It's very scary to think what medication that's supposed to help you can do to you.

    2. Deep bruising stains the skin too. After j had a very bad skiing accident the bruising was still visible months later. Hope your mum has had a good day and is up to celebrating properly soon. xx

    3. It looks like my mum's arm will take some time to get back to normal. She enjoyed her birthday at home and I'm sure we'll get to celebrate properly when she feels a bit more up to it.

    1. This is the only photo we've got of my mum as a child. I think that Eleanor was very like her when she was around the same age.

    1. Thank you. I wish she'd let me speak to the doctor for her as she really needs some stronger painkillers, but she won't hear of it. She's fiercely independent.

    1. I'm so thankful to still have both my mum and dad. I think you become aware as you get older that they won't be here forever so I never take them for granted, they're brilliant parents and we're very close.

    1. Thank you. I didn't realise how long it would take for all the bruising to subside and for the pain to let up, I hope it doesn't take much longer.

    1. Thank you. We went round again last night to spend some more time with her. She enjoyed the company, but we'll definitely get round to doing something a little more special when she's ready.

    1. I love this photo, it's the only one we have of my mum as a child. It's been a bit of a worry seeing my mum in so much pain and the arm being as bruised as it has been, but I'm hoping that it will all get sorted out soon so that she's back to normal. I think the birthday celebrations will be worth waiting for.
