I Couldn't Resist

I've written about my love of Filofaxes on my blog before. Diary Love, It's Here and A Tour Of My Filofax Crimson Malden are a few of the posts in which they've been mentioned previously. Although I love my crimson Malden Filofax, I've been coveting the Malden in ochre and when I saw it for sale at a bargain price, I just had to have it.

I'm ashamed to say that I've now had it for quite a while, yet it's still in the plastic sleeve in which it came. I haven't yet thought of a use for it as all the information I need is already recorded in either my crimson Malden or my A5 red Chameleon. I obviously didn't really need this new Filofax, especially as my favourite is, and I'm sure always will be, my crimson Malden, but I just couldn't resist it. Here it is, taken out of its plastic sleeve.

There's so many different Filofax models but I've definitely found my favourite in the Malden. I love the feel of the leather, its rugged looks and the layout of the inside pockets work for me.

Here are my Maldens side by side. The crimson looks much bigger than the ochre but that's just because it's so stuffed.

You can see the difference from the top. The ochre will fill out as soon as I start filling it up.

Here's my whole Filofax family. I use my A5 Chameleon as a household file, recording finances and household information, and my crimson Malden holds my diary and my day to day information. I tried using the pocket vintage pink Malden but it's just too small for me and I have to say that I'm not that keen on the colour so it isn't used any longer.

I'm definitely putting a stop to any more Filofax purchases now, I've got my favourites.

  1. Gee, Jo, you must be so, so organised. Since we got back, I feel my life is so unorganised, as all sorts of things just seem to be cropping up all the time. Maybe I need a Filofax. Must do a post soon and will pop an email through sometime next week. Take care.

    1. I do try to stay organised and my Filofax certainly helps, there's no doubt about it. You do have to make sure that you use it properly though and jot down things as they come up.

  2. Ha ha, they are addictive, aren't they? Where did you get it from, if you don't mind me asking? I've got the purple Malden as you know, but I do really like the look of the ochre, it's got that vintage look about it.

I have a confession to make too - I've just bought another Filofax, or rather, my mum has bought it for me for Christmas, so I've got to wait a few weeks before I can get my hands on it! I don't know what I'm going to use it for, but it was half price, and I couldn't resist either!

    1. They're very addictive. I got the ochre Malden from WH Smith when they had their sale on, I think it's back to the full price again though now. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't resist, I'm looking forward to hearing which model your mum's bought you for Christmas.

  3. They're lovely, I can see why you like them so much. I'm a big fan of this kind of thing too, so many possibilities.

    1. I'm such a big fan of Filofax as they're so versatile. They have so many uses and you can keep everything in one place instead of having lots of notebooks. I like the fact that pages can be added or taken away at ease too.

  4. Great selection of colours. What will you use it for?!

    1. I still love my crimson Malden, I'm sure it will always be my favourite, but I love my red Chameleon and the new ochre Malden too. I really don't know yet what I'll use it for, perhaps a craft file, that's the only thing which I've come up with so far. I'm open to suggestions.

    1. I find it quite easy with a Filofax as everything is in one place, that's the beauty of it.

  6. For years I had an A5 filofax, mine had a zip all the way around, so I could keep papers in it. Used it every day, not sure what happened to it, I think I passed it on, when I changed jobs.

    1. They're a great tool if you work, I don't but it still keeps me organised. I think the models with zips are great if you have lots of bits of paper to keep all together.

  7. They really are still a good idea and I think that I might be tempted to get one for next year to replace my usual diary and lots of bits of paper. Flighty xx

    1. I'm so pleased that I've gone back to using a Filofax, I can't even remember why I stopped using one now. Do let me know if you take the plunge and which model you decide on.

  8. Confessions of a Filofax owner! lol! You should have a competition for names for them all.

    1. Some people do name their Filofaxes but I haven't gone that far...yet.

  9. Sometimes "need" has nothing to do with it :}

Which might explain which I'm up to three A5's plus the more-than-35 year old Personal Winchester which is one of those "what would you grab if there was a fire" items.

    1. I'm so pleased you understand. Three A5's? Your collection seems to have grown since I last heard, you must tell more, models, colours. Filofax may seem an expensive, luxury item to some, but your Winchester just goes to show that they're quality items which are made to last a lifetime.

    2. I will do one day, Jo, but the "blog lag" is already a bit extreme with the entire summer and 1000+ photos to sort through.

      Three A5's - had a "bit of an eBay moment" earlier in the year :}

  10. You are so organised Jo that I am sure that you will find a use for your lovely new Filofax and a home for the smaller one that you don't care for! xx

    1. I'm sure something will come to me in a flash of inspiration, it would be a shame to leave it unused in a drawer. I've hung on to the pocket Malden in case I have a change of heart, you never know.

  11. Great you got it in a sale. I'm nowhere near as organised as that!

    1. I paid a lot less than I did for the crimson Malden, though I think the crimson's worth it as it's my favourite. I'm more organised than I used to be now that I use a Filofax.

  12. We all have our little obsessions don't we and I think Filofaxes may be yours Jo haha. But I suppose if you make good use of them all then you obviously had to have them didn't you.

    1. I think you may be right, along with knitting, crochet, chocolate and many other things. I've got to put a lid on it now though, I think my collection is now big enough.

  13. Gosh Jo, you must be frighteningly well organised :-) or have no excuse not to be now!! A craft file sounds a good idea x

    1. I try to be, my Filofaxes definitely help. I think a craft file is the top of the list at the moment, I can't think of anything better to use it for.

  14. You have a really nice collection! I have 3 Filofaxes now but I want more planners. Is it crazy? I was thinking of getting a Kikki.K large planner, which is an A5 equivalent. I would probably use that for home related stuff or to log my craft projects.

    1. I use my A5 Chameleon as my home file. I think it needs to be a larger size than personal, especially if you're going to log finances in it too. I think once you start looking at different planners, there's always something to tempt you, but I'm definitely going to put a stop to buying any more, I think I've got enough now.

  15. They all look nice, I have never bought a filo fax, I like the idea of filing things where they belong though, keeping it all neat. I have notebooks around the house with phone numbers, recipes, or whatever written in. Problem is which notebook did I write it in, and where is it? :)

    1. That's what I love about Filofax, everything is in one place and I know where to find it. I've always loved stationery so this is right up my street.
