Christmas Jumper Day

This is the third year in which Save The Children will be running its annual Christmas Jumper Day. It's to be held on Friday the 12th of December and people are encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper for the day and make a donation to this deserving charity.

George at Asda is the official retail sponsor and Christmas jumpers are now on sale in their stores and online with a percentage of each sale going to Save The Children.

Eleanor will be taking part at school, though I think it's just the sixth form which is joining in. She wanted something gaudy and we came across this jumper in the men's section at Matalan. It's a little big but she likes her jumpers to be baggy.

I think this fits the bill perfectly, especially when the lights are turned on and are flashing away.

Other partners besides Asda are supporting this year's Christmas Jumper Day too. If you fancy knitting yourself a jumper, patterns can be downloaded from Deramores.com with selected patterns carrying a donation to Save The Children. How about getting your dog in on the fun? Doggy jumpers are being sold at Pets at Home with a donation going to Save The Children. I'm not sure it's really Archie's thing.

    1. It certainly makes me smile. It's just what she was after, no point going for anything understated when it's for an occasion such as this.

  7. Great idea, not sure that people knitting one themselves would get it finished by the 12th if they started now. The one above is very cute. Take care.

    1. I know I wouldn't have a jumper finished by the 12th, I'm a very slow knitter, but there's some very fast knitters out there that would have no problem with that task.

  8. We've got our Christmas jumpers ready here, anyone not wearing one on Christmas morning will be paying a forfeit! My girls are trying to get me to knit one for the cat, I dont think she'll be too happy about that! Good to hear Eleanor will be raising money for charity by wearing hers. x

    1. I think you should definitely knit a jumper for the cat, I bet she'd look very cute in it. Eleanor's school usually have all sorts of things going on during the Christmas Jumper Day so they usually raise lots of money for Save The Children, a great cause.

  10. I like the lights! My husbands work is having a Christmas jumper at work day, so I just bought him one, but he thinks that the one I got is too tasteful! I think that he would have loved one with flashing lights, but I'm not sure that I could have coped with it!! I hope that everyone at Eleanor's school has a great day and lots of fun with this. xx

    1. I think the idea of Christmas Jumper Day is for everyone to turn up in garish jumpers, that's how Eleanor's playing it anyway. There's actually some really lovely Christmas jumpers now, though I think they mostly used to be very tasteless.
