Specs Appeal

I'd been meaning to book an appointment for an eye test for a long time, and finally got round to it a few weeks ago after I'd received a voucher for a half price test.

It was no surprise that I needed glasses, it's been a struggle to read for quite some time now. It was so hard to choose a style to go with, but there was a two for one offer on, so I picked two different styles. Now I can have a different look whenever I want.

It's great being able to see what I'm reading without having to squint or hold everything at arms length. Oh well, another sign of getting old.

  1. I like both pairs that you've chosen. I have 2 pairs, but one is for distance and the other is for reading - a legacy of the cataract surgery. The lens implants weren't quite good enough for driving without a distance pair, and I am a + 3.5 in one eye and a + 3 in the other for reading. I need to get mine tested , but I know one of the lens implants is now clouding up ( I was warned it probably would as I was young to have cataract surgery) That means I'll have to have holes lasered into it, which is what's putting me off!

    1. It would put me off too. Anything to do with eyes makes me cringe, I can watch programmes which show surgery but nothing to do with eyes.

  2. Nice style. Had to have my eye exam for contact lens this week, we're required to do this once a year.

    1. I don't think I could wear contact lenses, it makes me shudder thinking about putting them in and taking them out. I don't have to go back for another test for two years now.

  3. Love the pair with the red arms. I have reading glasses and distance glasses and lenses. Been having trouble reading with my lenses so when I had my yearly lens check last week he recommended having one lens for distance and one lens for reading. I trialed a pair and they are amazing!

    1. I'm glad you've got it sorted, it really does make a difference when you've got the glasses or lenses which you need. I've been as blind as a bat when reading for such a long time.

  4. I've always worn glasses. Over the years I've had all sorts but nowadays they're wire rimmed varifocals. Flighty xx

    1. I bet you've seen a change in styles over the years. Mick wears glasses for driving and his are wire rimmed.

  5. It's great that you've been able to get two pairs. I kept misplacing my glasses until Mark bought me a bright red case!! Now I can always find them quickly in the depths of my dark handbags. Jx

    1. It's just like my secateurs, I put them down somewhere and never see them again. A pair with bright red handles solved that problem. It's great having two pairs of glasses, I keep one pair at the side of the bed for reading my book and the other pair lives downstairs and I put them in my bag when I go out.

    1. You wouldn't want me with you, I'm the most dithery person when it comes to making a choice. I took Eleanor with me thinking she'd be a help but all she wanted to do was look which styles looked best on her.

  7. I need to make another appointment for my eyes testing. I had to cancel one when I had flu and my eyes still dont feel quite right. Dont you hate having to wear them for everything though, because I do. I remember having perfect vision!!

    1. It's quite a novelty being able to see at the moment, so I'm not minding wearing them at all. I think it's a shame that I need glasses though, I'm showing my age now. Hope your eyes feel better soon.

  8. I've only had my eyes tested once many years ago and even then I was told that I'd need glasses for reading. Over the years I've battled on - not vain as such but not wanting to admit to having to wear glasses! I have got to go though and I'm sure I'll feel better for it!

    1. It was such a relief when I got my glasses, I've known that I've needed them for ages, and it's so easy to read now. They do say not to wear glasses until absolutely necessary, but I'd definitely got to that stage.

  9. Lovely choice... one for the studious you and the other a little bit of your wild side.
At least if you misplace one pair you'll have the other ones at the ready.
    Have a great week.

  10. My eyes are just the oposite. I take my glasses off to read.

    1. It was so hard choosing which to buy. In the end I chose two completely different styles, so at least I've got a choice now.

  12. Like your glasses. As a glasses wearer for years I still find it hard to pick out frames.

    1. I think the problem is that there's so many different styles to choose from. I thought Eleanor might help me make a decision, but she was no help at all.

  13. Nice frames. I've needed glasses since I was ten and wear contacts now, but I still like to wear my specs from time to time. My prescription changed recently though - a sign that I too am getting old!

  14. I had to finally give in to specs last year too, just for reading and the television, and like you I got two pairs, one to keep in the bedroom and the other to have downstairs. Liking the red ones :D

    1. It's handy having a couple of pairs, I know I'd forget to take them upstairs with me at the end of the day otherwise.
