It's Here

I mentioned in my Diary Love post last year about how I'd rediscovered Filofax. I've been using a planner again, rather than a diary, since the middle of last year, and it's been keeping me much more organised. Filofax sell a whole range of binders in different sizes, and I've been using a pocket Malden for on the go and an a5 Chameleon as my home organiser.

I regularly read Philofaxy blog and love the Web Finds posts on a Saturday and Wednesday. These are a round up of the weeks posts on people's blogs, and videos on YouTube, about Filofax. Although I'm getting on well with the pocket size filofax, after seeing how other people use their personal size, I'd been fancying trying one out myself.

I was given some money last year when one of my uncles died. I've been thinking of something to buy with it as I didn't want it to just be frittered away, I wanted to buy something I could keep. When I came across Lady Filo's My Filo World blog with a post about 35% discount on the Italian Filofax website I couldn't resist, especially as they had the crimson Malden in personal size for sale, this isn't available on the UK site anymore. What's more, during January, shipping within the EU and Europe was free. I decided that it was too good an offer to pass up, and this would be the perfect thing to spend some of the money I'd been given on.

It arrived on Monday and I couldn't wait to open it.

It's made from buffalo leather and it's so soft. I love the colour, it's a gorgeous deep red with a contrasting trim. I had wondered if the colour might be different to what I'd seen online as it's sometimes hard to get a true colour in a photo, but it's just as I'd seen. My photos all show different shades, but I'd say it's most like the first photo.

The inside is similar to my pocket size, and though it doesn't lie flat when open at the moment, I'm sure it will do in time.

The diary supplied is in Italian, but I've decided that it would be a waste of money to replace this with an English one, I can work out which day is which, so it's fine.

Also supplied are a-z dividers, subject dividers, various types of Filofax paper such as address sheets, finance sheets,to do sheets, website pages, coloured ruled paper and a credit card holder. The subject dividers are in English, which is a bit odd given that the diary supplied is in Italian, I'd have thought they'd both be in the same language.

I just need to move across now from my pocket size, but this is going to give me so much more room. I should be extra organised now.

    1. I'm so pleased that I managed to get the crimson, it's not available in the UK now, and I was a bit worried buying from abroad, but it was really easy, and enabled me to buy exactly what I wanted.

    1. The thing I love about Filofax is that pages can be added or removed, also, you can move things about within it. Then there's the feel and smell of it. Can you tell I love it?

  3. You're making lust for a filofax again! I used to have a small sized Louis Vuitton organiser I used and then switched to the Moleskine diaries the past few years but maybe it's time to do the switch back!!

    1. I did exactly the same thing. I used to use a Microfile, similar to the Filofax, then went back to using a pocket diary. I'm really enjoying using a Filofax again now, I think I need to be more organised in my life and this is keeping me on the straight and narrow.

    1. I haven't done anything with it yet, I'm just loving looking at it. I want to find some peace and quiet time so that I won't be disturbed whilst I move everything across from my pocket.

  7. Oh Jo, you've given me shivers reading this :} I have a beautiful leather Filofax in a cupboard, and more paper for it than I could probably use in the next decade. It has been many, many years since it was in service but as I become increasingly forgetful, and increasingly frustrated with myself for far too many small bits of paper laying across my desk ... perhaps It Is Time.

    No such thing as coincidence that you mention this now :}

    1. You must get it back in service. I can't believe how much more organised I am since I've started using a Filofax again, and having everything in one place is great, no lost bits of paper anymore. I'd love to know which binder you've got.

    2. Hi Jo, actually I have two:} A beautiful burgundy leather 'personal' which I must have had for over 25 years and a big black leather A5 from far-off corporate days. Not sure that either style is still for sale. I'll be resurrecting the A5 because that is the one I have so much paper for. There may be a blog post in the future (grin).

    3. Oooh, can't wait to see. I use my a5 as a home binder, it holds the household finances, a family diary so that I know who's doing what on which day, it's hectic in our house with everyone doing different things, information on utility suppliers and when I'm out of contract so that I can look to change, household to do lists and things like Christmas lists. My pocket is my on the go filofax with my personal diary and personal info. I'll be changing this one to my new personal size, but I'll have to find a new use for my pocket size as I love that one too.

  9. It's lovely. I share you love of the filofax and have been using the same one for about 12 years. Maybe it's time I upgraded too?

  11. I love it Jo! And I think the color you have chosen shows your true personality... And I admire anyone that is organized, I like to think I'm quite organized, but I always think I could do that bit better and I love the old school way of doing things, you know... writing them down! Not using electronics to organize... because Lord knows they always break down! I have missed visiting you and It feels all nice and comfy here visiting you again, I've been so busy, but I will soon be settled and back to being a regular visiter. Have a most wonderful weekend my friend!

    1. I'm exactly the same when it comes to the old school ways of doing things. I'm not very good with technology, and as I love stationery anyway, Filofax is perfect for me.

  12. Ooooh it is beautiful! A gorgeous red! I find Filofax (and loose leaf binders in general) just so much more useful and flexible. So much so that I wrote a post about it this week! I've come to terms with the fact that I am a visual person and I need reminders on paper to actually function. I can't remember a blog post draft on the computer, but I do when I see it on my lists...Happy planning and yay for a gorgeous tool to help!
