We spent a lovely evening last night watching Eleanor and her drama group in Musical Express, Destination: West End. It was a show of songs and dances from leading musicals.
There was a good selection of songs from different musicals and Eleanor sang a solo, Another Suitcase In Another Hall from Evita, and a duet, I Know Him So Well from Chess, as well as odd solo bits here and there, and of course, she sang with the company too.
The last couple of songs from Grease, Born To Hand Jive and Greased Lightning, got the audience joining in, whilst all the performers took to the stage and sang their hearts out whilst jiving along, the show really ended on a high.
There's another performance tonight, another next Saturday in the local church, then auditions and rehearsals will begin for the big annual production which is performed at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds. This year's show is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, so I'm looking forward to that.
I love the clever title for the evening! Glad you had a good time. Jx
ReplyDeleteIt's good how they come up with the titles for their concerts. We had a lovely evening, there's some talented kids involved.
DeleteYou must have been an extremely proud mum. I'd have cried buckets if it had been Violet singing a solo, especially those two songs, as they're quite emotional anyway.

I'm always so proud of Eleanor, she puts so much effort in to everything she does. It's nerve wracking watching her singing a solo, but she doesn't seem to have any nerves at all.
DeleteSounds like a fun evening.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum
xx
We had a wonderful time, and went a second time last night.
DeleteIt sounds like so much fun, Jo. I bet you were bursting with pride! :o)
ReplyDeleteI was bursting with pride. It was a wonderful show, they all work so hard to put these concerts on.
DeleteWell done Eleanor and the family must be so proud of her. It sounds like a lovely evening and when is the big event?
ReplyDeleteWe are all really proud of Eleanor. She got some great comments from members of the audience after the shows about how much they'd enjoyed her performances, and the show in general. The big show each year is performed in November.
DeleteSounds like great fun for all concerned. We love these sort of concerts, too. Our 11 year old grandson has been going to Stagecoach Drama School at weekends for several years and is now a National Youth and Musical Theatre member and is getting major parts. We're going down to London to see him perform again at the end of August. It's good to encourage musical talent isn't it? All the best for Eleanor.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've got a budding star in the family, how wonderful to be going to see him in London, you must be really proud of him. It is important to encourage musical talent, they can get so much out of it. Eleanor's gained so much confidence from her singing and drama.
DeleteSounded like such fun. I would have enjoyed singing along with songs from Grease :)
ReplyDeleteThe songs from Grease made a great end to the show, everyone was singing along. It was a fabulous evening.
DeleteHello Jo!
ReplyDeleteHow have you been?
The shows sound like a lot of fun, I've never been to the theater and I'd love to go, I will one day, I have just been busy enjoying other things... Life is so full of things I want to do!
I hope you're having a great start to your summer!
Much love,
Tammy
Lovely to hear from you. You really must go to the theatre, there's so many great things to see, you'd love it.
DeleteIt sounds like a fab show Jo. I love all those show songs.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great show. I enjoy listening to songs from the shows.
DeleteThis souds like a fab show and congratulations to Eleanor for being selected for solos. KP sang When I Grow Up from Matilda as part of her English Studies Board Exam last year.
ReplyDeleteJune
The Matilda songs were sung by the younger members of the company, they were really good and I could see some stars of the future. Eleanor was pleased with the songs she was chosen to sing, but loved some of the others too.
DeleteI like this selection of songs, that sounds like a fun program.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and leaving a comment. It was a good selection of songs, something there for everyone.
DeleteIt sounds like it was a most enjoyable evening for both the audience and performers. xx
ReplyDeleteYou could tell that the performers were really enjoying themselves, it was a wonderful show.
DeleteSounds like a really good evening.
ReplyDeleteI love the songs from Bugsy Malone!

It's a long time since I've seen Bugsy Malone, it was nice to be reminded of some of the songs.
DeleteSounds like a lovely evening for you all. You mentioned that you would like to try a shawl. Well another that I want to try, and it looks nice and easy, is on ravelry and its free. The Age of brass and steam kerchief. :)
ReplyDeleteWe all enjoyed the evening, especially Eleanor. I've had a look at the shawl and it looks like an nice easy one to start with, I may give it a go.
