The Stash Keeps Growing

I've done it again, been and ordered more yarn from Kemps. I couldn't resist after hearing from Amanda at Eight by Six gardening blog that they were selling Patons Pompero at only 89p per 50g ball, the recommended retail price is £2.99 so a great saving. I bought six balls of the Ruby colourway.

The Patons Wool Blend Aran also caught my eye. This was £3.09 per 100g ball. The recommended retail price of this is £3.69 so not as good a bargain but I loved the Airforce colourway so I bought three balls.

There's enough yarn here to knit two of the lacy scarves which Amanda has pictured on her blog. I'm going to be warm and cosy this winter.

I don't have a photo of my finished item for June as it went on it's onward journey before I remembered I hadn't taken one. This is the pattern for it, a little v-neck cardigan from an old Sirdar Snuggly Knits pattern brochure I've had for years. I had bought 200g of Hayfield Baby Bonus Extra Value DK in a gorgeous lemon colour but I only used just under 100g so there's a ball left to knit another. I chose this yarn as it's machine washable and can be tumble dried, essential for baby knits as they never seem to be out of the wash.

I'll make sure that I remember to take a photo of my next finished item.

  3. I love the Ruby colourway, & what a fantastic price too.
I'd better stay away from Kemps at the moment, I've got so many projects to finish off (with deadlines too), that I'd only get distracted.
I love knitting for babies - you hardly use any yarn and they're so quick to make. It's a shame you didn't get chance to take a pic of your finished cardigan, but the pattern looks very cute :0)

  6. That ruby shade shall make a beautiful scarf.
Hard to imagine knitting here right now... with the humidity today it will be 46C. (yes you read that right)
With all the canning I've still to do it may be a challenge...

  7. That lemon is such a soft colour, perfect for a baby knit. And I love the ruby you chose. I like all the scarves that Amanda had on her blog in that picture. At that price you could have scarves in lots of different colours and make some for Christmas pressies!

  10. The yarn looks fab. Love the Ruby colour. I am *not* going to the Kemps website. No, I'm not. Really, I'm not.

Do you think, if I say it often enough, it might work? Yeah, I doubt it too! :oD

  11. I love the colour of the pompero wool.Looks like you are going to be very busy soon!
I have got loads of wool in my stash but at the minute am not doing much knitting or crocheting because I tend to do more in autumn/winter.

  13. It's such a wet morning here that I've just checked out Kemps' site and have ordered some lovely chunky and a pattern to knit myself a cardigan for
' autumn/ winter'. I could do with it now judging by the view from the window!

  15. Just catching up on your posts.

I'm reading Blue Shoes and Happiness from the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency at the mo.

Good to hear you're enjoying your reading.

I hope that Eleanor had a lovely birthday. Children grow up so fast but you 2 have such a close bond I am sure she'll always be around. What do they say about mothers and daughters.

The wool looks gorgeous and I'm sure you'll end up with a lovely item.

  16. I hadn't discovered Kemps. Thank you! (I'm not at all sure that my husband will be so pleased...)

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I get very fond of my layers but know that I MUST not get fond of the others but just give them as good a time as I can. My husband does the deed. I'm not sure that I could although if a hen were very ill, I think I might be able to. I'd rather have these than the ones in the supermarket although we've only done it 3 times so far.
