Christmas Mugs

I have a bit of a thing for mugs, which is quite funny considering it's only recently that I really started drinking hot drinks. I used to drink the odd hot chocolate, but I now enjoy at least one cup of tea each day. Even when I didn't drink hot drinks I bought plenty of mugs. Surprisingly though, I've never bought a Christmas mug.

Until this year! I've never thought about buying Christmas mugs in the past but I saw this lovely one in the local garden centre and couldn't resist.

Then, yesterday, I was in Sainsbury's and saw these two had been reduced so I grabbed them while they were on offer.

I can see the beginnings of a new collection.

  1. Ooooh! They're lovely. I haven't used a Christmas mug in ages, not since it got broken. I might just have to rectify that now. X

    1. I don't know why it's never crossed my mind to buy Christmas mugs in the past, especially since I love a nice mug. I'm glad I've now got these to choose from now, and there's even one for Mick there too.

  2. You only drink one cup of tea a day? That makes my mind boggle, I have four under by belt by mid morning!
I have a thing for mugs too, I had to stop buying them as the cupboard was overflowing. I have treated myself to a few Christmas mugs though, I always use one when decorating the Christmas tree.
I love the Mr & Mrs ones, I might have to pay my local Sainsburys a visit... (the ban on buying mugs isn't going well is it?)
    xx

    1. My parents were tea drinkers but both me and my sister only liked cold drinks. My sister came to enjoy coffee later in life but never tea. Mick's trying to enforce a one in one out policy with my mugs but I've managed to get round that so far. Sainsbury's had quite a few of these mugs stacked up when I went yesterday, I hope you manage to find some in your local store.

  5. Very pretty Jo. I'm enjoying infusions these days rather than normal tea and coffee.

  6. I do like your first mug. Coincidentally, I also bought a Christmas mug for the first time ever last week. I think it may become a yearly tradition from now on.

  7. It is so pretty, to see Christmas mugs, come "out" and be shown, in blogs and on Instagram. They are a sweet way, to get in the festive mood of the Season.

Yes, I can see, you have joined these ladies, who bring out their Christmas mugs!!!!! -smile-

  8. Oh, they're lovely! I start using my Christmas mug on 1st December, it really helps to put me in a festive mood, and I pack it away at Epiphany. Last year I bought a "winter" mug to use afterwards and I've just bought an "autumn" mug for next year. I've got several floral mugs which I'm happy to use in spring and summer but I really like the seasonal thing. x

    1. I think that's really lovely. Even though I've enjoyed buying mugs in the past, I suppose it's the fact that I haven't really used them myself which is the reason behind me never buying seasonal mugs. My mug buying will be taking on a whole new meaning now that I'm a tea drinker.

    1. I think many people have a favourite mug, we have a couple of not so nice ones in the cupboard which I can't get rid of because Mick uses them all the time.

  11. Is this a whoops, where is this leading for a mug collection. I do remember when we went for a cuppa, you had a glass of cold liquid & we all had tea/coffee at the cafe in the grounds of Temple Newsam. 5 years ago......... Enjoy your daily cuppa in your new mug. Take care & huggles.

  13. I love my Christmas mugs :-) The character ones I've collected are just for decoration but we do have some christmassy ones we use throughout December and then they are packed away until the next Christmas. I'll have to check out Sainsbury's, those you picked up are lovely, not that I need anymore, lol

    1. I think I'll pack these away after Christmas and get them out again next Christmas, there isn't enough room in the cupboard anyway for more mugs. I suppose it'll feel like you've got new mugs each year if you do that.

  14. Ooh! I love the Mr. & Mrs. cups! We remove all our regular mugs and replace them with Christmas cups each year. I'm a bit of a Christmas mug geek. :)

  15. Christmas mugs sound fun. As Christmas here is so different you don´t really see things like this, don´t think they would survive in the hand case. It was actually quite nice to hear all the carols and songs and see the displays when I was over xcx

  16. I cleaned out my mom's mug cupboard and donated 50 mugs to charity, about half being Christmas mugs she had been gifted through the years. We have about another 30 or so that she isn't ready to part with. I have some special mugs gifted to me by my daughter that I use to hold pens, crochet hooks, etc since I don't drink hot beverages. I like the first mug pictured the best!

    1. Wow, that's a lot of mugs in your mom's mug cupboard. We have a fair few but not quite that many. I think mugs are lovely to gift, I've had a few given to me over the years.

  17. I do like those Mr & Mrs Mugs.
I have a lovely snowman mug that I often use during the Christmas season, and one with a robin on … I love robins they are my favourite bird.
In fact when I look in the kitchen cupboards I do have quite a variety of mugs …

    Enjoy your new mug collection.

    All the best Jan

    1. As stated, one was bought from a local garden centre, the other two from Sainsbury's, but they were bought over a year ago now so I doubt they'll still have them.
