Strictly Cha Cha Chevron Socks 2019

I've been taking part in the Strictly knitalong which is being hosted on the Little Drops of Wonderful podcast. I took part in this same knitalong last year, and in fact, knit the same sock pattern which was last years official Strictly knitalong pattern. It's the Cha Cha Chevron pattern by Sandra Paul and though I don't want to knit anything too complicated whilst watching the dancing, it's interesting enough for me not to get bored.

My knitting mojo has been coming and going since my mum died in March but taking part in a knitalong has been keeping the momentum going on this project. It's also encouraged me to pick up other projects and knit on those too.

These socks have been knit whilst watching Strictly Come Dancing, the results show and its sister show, It Takes Two which is shown on weekdays. It's been a while since I've had a finished item to show so I'm very pleased to have got these done. I've used a hand dyed yarn which I received in a swap which I took part in on Instagram, I don't know who the dyer is but the yarn is so soft, it's been a pleasure to knit with.

Unfortunately, I started the toes a little too soon and the socks are a tad too small for me, but I don't mind, they'll make a lovely Christmas gift.

  1. They are beautiful socks, shame about the size, but who ever wears them will love them. I have just seen a reminder on Facebook showing my 1st pair of socks finished, you were correct I am hooked, I'm knitting my 17th pair, I have had so many request for hand knitted socks for Christmas gifts.

    1. I don't mind too much about them not fitting, they'll make a lovely gift. I think sock knitting is very addictive and there's always someone who appreciates hand knitted socks as a gift.

  2. I love your socks :) I don't get chance to watch Strictly much. I don't watch a lot of TV so I don't really even know who the celebrities are this year. I only recognised 3 in this years line up. I haven't knitted for ages! I'm enjoying crochet and even that I don't get a lot of time to work on it. I've started a blanket for my daughter. Best, Jane x

    1. I don't know many of the celebrities on Strictly either, I never do, but it's fun to get to know them as the series goes on. I'm the opposite, I do much more knitting than I do crochet.

  3. That yarn is lovely, I am impressed that you can knit socks whilst watching TV. I can knit whilst watching things but not sure I would be brave enough to knit socks!

    1. I love the yarn, it's so soft and beautiful to knit with. I find socks really easy to knit now, I think it's because I've knit so many pairs.

    1. I think grief takes over your concentration at times and this is why my knitting mojo has been up and down this year. The knitalong has certainly helped to keep me focused.

    1. Some people who are doing the knitalong end up knitting lots of pairs of socks whilst watching the show but I shall only enter this pair. I will definitely knit on the projects I've already got on the go though now that my socks are finished.

  7. Lovely socks, I've seen a few people using Sandra's pattern, it seems popular. As you know I don't watch Strictly, but I do love to see all the socks that people knit. Are you going to add them into Alli's ravelry group?

    1. It's a lovely pattern to knit, I knit this same one last year and enjoyed it so much that I decided on it again this time round. Yes, I've added the socks to Ali's Ravelry group.

  12. They're very pretty, what a shame they don't fit you, but someone will be very lucky to receive them.
I can't knit and watch TV at the same time, so I can't knit during Strictly. I find I listen to the TV rather than watch, which is fine if it's the news or Eastenders, but Strictly requires my full attention :)

    1. I can knit without looking but I wouldn't fancy knitting anything too complicated. This is a great pattern as it's not too difficult but there's enough to keep me interested.

  13. Lovely Jo. Pity they are too small, but somebody will love them & maybe dance the night away in them. Take care & huggles.

    1. I've got someone in mind who I know will love the socks so I don't mind so much that they won't fit me. I love gifting things anyway so I'll get just as much pleasure out of passing them on to someone else who I know will enjoy them just as much as I would.

  14. Such pretty colours in your socks. I am doing a 10 row repeat pattern and even though its quite simple I still get lost sometimes so don´t think I could do it watching strictly, I would lose count lol xcx

    1. They yarn is beautifully dyed, it's a shame that I don't know who the dyer is. This is a ten row repeat, I usually use a strip of washi tape to put underneath the row I'm working on so that I don't lose my place.
