It's only taken me a year but here is the very first cross stitch I've ever completed, finally framed. There's a little bit of glare on the glass but you get the gist.
I haven't had it done professionally, I've just bought a frame and done it myself. I know it's not perfect but I do think the frame adds something.
I wrote all about the cross stitch in my Home Is Where The Heart Is post back in November last year. I think I'll hang it in the porch so that everyone can see it as they come through the door.
That's so sweet, well done - the frame looks great, a the porch is the perfect place for it. I haven't done any cross stitching in ages - too many other projects on the go!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think the frame is the finishing touch. There's always lots of things I want to have a go at, just not enough time for everything.
DeleteSign your name and put the date on the back of the frame. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI did think about stitching my name and date underneath the design but only thought about it after it was in the frame. Your idea is a much better one.
DeleteIt's lovely. I was hoping you would hang it somewhere visitors can see it. The porch is a great idea. It's years since I did any cross stitch. It's just about all I can manage with a needle. X
ReplyDeleteI think the porch is the ideal place for it. I don't do any other crafting with a needle, it takes me all my time to sew a button on.
DeleteIt's lovely Jo, a welcoming sign by the front door indeed
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be a nice welcome for visitors.
DeleteIt's good. Well done. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteI'm very pleased with it, I think the frame just finishes it off nicely.
DeleteBrilliant, well done, lovely to see your project finished and why not put it in the porch for everyone to admire, you´ll be taking commissions next lol have a great weekend xcx
ReplyDeleteHa ha, only if they don't mind waiting a year or two, I'm such a slow stitcher.
DeleteLooks great, I'll probably still be working on my first cross-stitch a year from now.
ReplyDeleteThere's no rush, this took me some time to do and my Joyful World that I'm working on at the moment is taking even longer. It's all about enjoying the process.
DeleteIts lovely and always a thrill to see each time you come through the door. A project filled with love.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be nice to have it in the porch where everyone coming to the house can see it.
DeleteIt's a lovely picture and looks so nice in the frame. What a lovely welcome for people to see as they come to your home xx
ReplyDeleteI think the frame changes the look of it all together, I'm really pleased with how it's turned out.
DeleteThat is lovely and the frame is just perfect.Cross stitch takes soooo long.I started a Christmas sampler at this time last year and it still isn't finished and probably won't be until next Christmas.I have done loads of cross stitch over the years and most are hanging somewhere in the house. Most have lovely memories of where I did them such as holiday places.Good idea to date them because you do forget.Well done.
ReplyDeleteCross stitch definitely does take much longer than other hobbies I'm involved in, but I like how the picture builds up gradually over time. It's true that memories get stitched in as you work on it. I'm sure your Christmas sampler will be lovely once it's finished.
DeleteIt's a beautiful finished piece Jo, I love quirky cross stitch houses. The framing looks really good and it will look lovely in your hall.
ReplyDeleteI like houses too, I bought a little quirky house ornament when we were on holiday in Cornwall. I'm pleased I've finally got the cross stitch framed so I can get it hung.
DeleteHooray for finishing it!! It looks super, and the frame is perfect for the quirky design!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's all finished off properly now, I'll be able to hang it and admire my first attempt at cross stitch.
DeleteIt's lovely, I love the design. The frame really sets it off, well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice easy design, perfect for a first attempt at cross stitch.
DeleteLooks lovely Jo, in the porch is an excellent place to hang it.
ReplyDeleteI pleased for a first attempt and the frame really sets it off.
DeleteIt looks lovely, Jo. The frame definitely finishes it off. The porch sounds like the perfect place for it. :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I'd have done with it if I hadn't framed it. Sewing isn't my forte so I'm not sure I'd have been able to turn it in to anything.
DeleteWell done, it looks great and the frame sets it of well.
ReplyDeleteI'm please with how it's turned out, especially now it's framed.
DeleteWonderful job Jo.
ReplyDeleteI think the frame finishes it off nicely.
DeleteHow very sweet. What a lovely way to welcome guests into your home.

I love the design, and it was simple enough for my first cross stitch project.
DeleteYour cross stitch is gorgeous, I LOVE it! The frame is perfect for it too x
ReplyDeleteI'm really pleased with the frame, I think it just finishes it off.
DeleteOh, that is just beautiful, Jo! Placing it so that you (and everyone else) can see it right when you walk into the house sounds like the perfect spot. Congrats on a job well done!
ReplyDeleteI'm really pleased with it for a first attempt.
DeleteIt looks lovely Jo & well done with the framing. I've only ever attempted prints, never anything like embroideries. Have a great week & take care.
ReplyDeleteI left the framing up to Mick, I think he's done a good job with it.
DeleteJo, I think it looks great.
ReplyDeleteThe porch has just got to be the most perfect of places to hang it ... and be proud of it!
All the best Jan
It will certainly get noticed in the porch, I think it's the best place to hang it.
DeleteWell done on a finished project x
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to finally have it complete with frame.
DeleteWhat better place for your new work of art to be hung, it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteLisa x
