Study Leave
It's Eleanor's last day at school today before her study leave starts. I thought being away from school for a couple of weeks would allow her extra time to revise for her AS Levels but the school are still putting classes on for those students who want to take advantage of them. Eleanor will be one of those students, she's worked so hard this year taking advantage of any extra classes she's been offered and working under her own steam out of school. It doesn't come naturally to her as it does to some kids, she has to work to get her grades, but work she has so I hope she's rewarded with the grades she deserves.
She's already taken one of the Psychology exams on Monday and one of the Sociology exams yesterday and she thinks they went ok. Two down, I think there's another eight to go. She's taking four subjects, Psychology, Sociology, English Language and Biology as well as sitting exams in General Studies.
There'll be no rest for her when the exams have finished, she's straight back to school to start on Year 13 work ready for her A Levels next year.
Daniel's also taking exams at university at the moment. His first one was on Monday and he thinks that's gone well. He had another one at 6pm yesterday but I haven't spoken to him since so I don't know how that went. His next one's on Saturday. They do sit them at odd hours and on funny days. I think he's got about five or six exams in total.
It's a busy time for exams at the moment, GCSEs, AS Levels, A Levels amongst others. Good luck to everyone out there who's sitting them.
Thank you for all your good wishes for my dad. I'm pleased to say that it wasn't as serious as we thought at first. It turns out he had appendicitis but with his other ongoing health issues we do worry and fear the worst. He underwent an emergency appendectomy at midnight on Sunday night and he was allowed home last night.

That's great news about your dad Jo, you must be so relieved. Good luck to both your children with their exams, Rob is sitting his last few before he graduates in July, then again he might look into doing his masters! x
ReplyDeleteWe're all very relieved. I was fearing the worst when he was taken in to hospital because of his other ongoing health issues, I never thought for a moment that it would turn out to be appendicitis. Good luck to Rob, I bet the last three years have flown by, I know it doesn't seem two minutes since Daniel was heading off to university and he's nearly completed two years now. Daniel was considering changing on to a masters course, which they can do right up to the end of year two, but I think he's decided against it now. He knows he can still do that extra year at the end of year three if he decides to do so then.
DeleteHope all goes well with exams for Eleanor and Daniel and glad your Dad is OK. You take care of yourself too and make sure you have some downtime and relax.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I just need these exams out of the way and then I'll be able to relax, give it another three weeks. Mind you, I'll be stressed about results day then. Only joking, I know they've both put in lots of effort and that's all that matters, it would be nice for their results to reflect this but I know they've done all they can, I'm very proud of them both.
DeleteGood Luck to Eleanor. My daughter is also taking her exams at Uni at the moment but being the glass half full person that she is always sounds like the voice of doom when I ask her how it went. Glad to hear your dad is ok and back home with your mum.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Good luck to your daughter too, I think it's hard if they don't think they've done so well, it's such a long time until results day for them to find out and they never really know. My mum is glad to have my dad back home with her, I know she missed him.
DeleteHope the exams go well for both of them.....it can be very stressful at this time of the year. Best wishes to your dad hope he recovers quickly from his op.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Neither Daniel nor Eleanor get too stressed about exams so that's a good thing. My dad is well on the road to recovery already, keyhole surgery is a great thing.
DeleteGood luck to both of them. It's good to read that your dad is okay and back home. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. My dad was so pleased to be able to leave hospital so quickly, he's recovering very well.
DeleteI am so pleased to hear that things were not as bad for your Dad as he feared. I hope that he continues to improve now! Good luck too to Eleanor and Daniel with their exams! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I really wasn't expecting him to have appendicitis, given his ongoing health issues I feared the worst. I'm so glad he's back home so quickly too, I do think people recover much better when they're in their own home.
DeleteGlad to hear your dad came home, now pamper him. Exams are so trying for them, fingers crossed they survive and get the results they are hoping for.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think my dad needs to be spoilt a little and I intend to do it. It seems that school is all about exams these days, it's a stressful environment but they've both worked very hard this year so I hope they do well.
DeleteGood luck to Eleanor and David, and every wish for a speedy recovery to your Dad :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your good wishes.
DeleteI'm catching up after a hiatus; I didn't know your Dad wasn't well! I'm glad it was (only) appendicitus; wishing him well!
ReplyDeleteDavid had psychology as well on Monday, Good luck to Eleanor in the rest of the exams!
Thank you, my dad's making a speedy recovery, he's doing really well. There was a question on the Psychology paper which Eleanor thought she'd got right but when they were discussing it after the exam, some had the same answer as Eleanor and some had a different answer so she's a bit unsure about that now, but she thinks the rest of it went well. There's so many different studies they have to learn though, rather them than me. I hope the exam went well for David and hope he does well in the rest of them.
DeleteGlad to hear your Dad's on the road to recovery xx Eden's had one AS exam today, Maths, she's got four next week which is going to be stressful! She has another four after that. Her study leave started last week. I'm glad all that sort of thing is behind me! Good luck to your two x
ReplyDeleteMy dad's glad to be home, he's making a good recovery. Eleanor's boyfriend's doing Maths so he had that exam too. Eleanor's got three exams this week, four next and I'm not sure whether it's two or three the week after half term. Thank you, good luck to Eden too.
DeleteSo glad to hear that your Dad is OK; he'll much prefer recovering at home and will probably be quicker too! AS exams in our house too; big daughter also had Psychology on Monday but doesn't have any more now until next week. It's such a lot of work for them, I do feel sorry for everyone having to take exams at the moment! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a relief to have my dad home and for it to have been nothing more serious. Eleanor's in an exam at the moment, they're both on my mind when I know they'll be sat in the exam hall. You're right, it is a lot of work for them, I'm glad I don't have to do it but I do feel sorry for them.
DeleteI'm glad your dad is doing better. Best of luck to both of your brilliant kids as they finish the school year.
ReplyDeleteThank you. My dad is doing much better now, he's well on the way to recovery. I was going to say that I'm glad the weekend is here so that we get a bit of downtime from exams but Daniel's got one tomorrow. They do seem to take them at odd times and on odd days at university.
DeleteGlad to hear that your dad is on the mend and was allowed to go home. I'm sure he'll recover quicker at home (if he rests and doesn't over do things).
ReplyDeleteI hope all the exams go well. I used to try not to worry and think about them once they were over, easier said than done though. xx
I always think that people recover much quicker in their own home, I know I'm always much more comfortable in my own surroindings. I'm sure we'll all be wondering how they've done in their exams right up to results day, time will tell.
DeleteGlad to hear your Dad is going to be ok .. in fact he will be at home now, as I type this.
ReplyDeleteOur youngest (we have six) has just this week sat his final University Exam. He has been fortunate to get a job, so all the years of study has paid off.
Good luck to Eleanor and Daniel
All the best Jan
My dad is home and recovering very well. He does have other health issues so we're so thankful that this wasn't as serious as we at first thought. Good luck to your son, I hope he gets the results he wants but brilliant news on his job, afterall, that's what all the years of study is all about. Thank you for your good wishes for Daniel and Eleanor.
