Sockalong - Week 2

I'm joining in with Christine's Sockalong over on her Winwick Mum blog.

After a week knitting the first sock, this is where I'm at. You can see the pattern of the yarn starting to emerge now.

I'd hoped to have reached the heel flap ready to knit along with the next part of the pattern but unfortunately, my dad was rushed in to hospital so lots of things have taken a back seat. I shall plod along with the sock at my own pace, which I'd intended to do anyway.

We're not sure how long my dad's going to be in hospital for so things are quite busy around here at the moment, but I'm trying to keep up with my blog and also reading other blogs, but I may not have time to comment as often as I usually do, I hope you understand.

    1. Thank you. It's a very worrying time as my dad isn't in the best of health as it is, but they've got the pain under control now so that's something.

    1. Thank you. Neither my mum nor dad are in the best of health so it's always worrying when something's wrong with them.

    1. I'm sure I'd have managed to get to the heel flap if I'd had a little more time, but it will get done eventually. Thank you, I'm about to ring the hospital to see if there's any news. Eleanor starts her AS levels today and Daniel starts his uni exams so my stress levels are sky high at the moment.

    1. Thank you. I know my mum's missing him, their next wedding anniversary is their Diamond, 60 years, so they've been together a long time and it's hard for them if they have to be apart.

    1. Thank you. I do think that knitting can take your mind off things, espcially if it's knitting that you have to concentrate on.

  13. Your dad and your whole family are in my thoughts. I hope he has a quick recovery. The sock is looking great. I think it almost looks tie-dyed the way the colors are pooling.

    1. Thank you. It does look very like tie dye, I wasn't sure I liked how the pattern was emerging at first but I'm liking it better the more it's being worked up.

  14. Jo - I'm so sorry to hear that your Dad has been taken into hospital. I hope that he is starting to feel a little better and that they can do plenty more to help. Thank you for your comment on my recent post. I got the impression at one stage that Eleanor enjoyed Music Theatre and maybe wanted to study in this area. Is she able to find a suitable course at another school or college in the area? There's a lot of choice in the area where I work because we are a small MBC on the edge of Birmingham... but I know that other areas are less well provided. Jx

    1. Thank you, he's feeling much better now and I'm hoping he'll be well enough to return home soon. Eleanor still enjoys her music and drama and would have studied both at A level if her school were offering the courses. She wanted to stay on at the sixth form at school so didn't really look seriously for a course elsewhere. She's chosen alternative A levels and now wants to persue a career in a totally different direction but she's still involved with the drama group she attends outside school.

    1. Thank you, I'm hoping that he won't be in much longer now. I'm enjoying watching how the colours are mingling as I'm knitting, I do love hand painted yarn.
