Sockalong - Week 3

I'm joining in with Christine's Sockalong over on her Winwick Mum blog.

My progress photo shows the exact point that I was at last week, I'm still at the same point. I had intended to go at my own pace with this Sockalong and that's exactly what I'm having to do. Events and commitments have left little time for knitting this week.

It's the final part of the sock tutorial on Christine's blog today so there'll be no further updates from me on the Sockalong now until my socks are finished, it could be some time, but I'm enjoying knitting away when I get chance.

    1. I think it may be some time before there's two finished socks.

  2. You're making good progress. I think it's good to take your time and fit in the knitting as you can; you'll enjoy it more when it's a place to go for relaxation.

    1. I never rush any crafting, I find it so much more enjoyable when I'm taking my time and not working to deadlines. There's enough stress in the world without adding to it with what should be an enjoyable pass time.

  4. Jo, I wasn't commenting last week when you told us about your dad. I do hope he's continuing to improve. Your socks will be done when they're done. You never know, it might warm up soon (live in hope) and you won't need to be wearing cosy socks like these! :o)

    1. My dad's doing very well, we're all really pleased that he's recovering so quickly. I must admit, I'm back in sandals, even when it's raining like today, so there's no rush for the socks. It's just as well as I can't see them being finished any time soon.

  5. Just enjoy the process when you can Jo. I'll be in touch soon, though we won't probably won't have internet after today/tomorrow for about a week. We move on Wednesday, so hope to get an email off to you tonight. Take care.

    1. I always think crafting is much more enjoyable to do when there's no rushing involved. Good luck with the move, I hope everything goes well.

  6. lovely colour, I wish I could master socks. I was ok with the pins then I couldn't do it, very odd. I guess you can't be good at everything, eh? Looking forward to seeing the finished product

    1. You should take a look at Christine's tutorial on her blog, there's other options rather than double pointed needles. One of the attractions of knitting socks is all the gorgeous sock yarn out there, it's very hard to resist once you start looking.

  7. It's interesting seeing how the colours change on that yarn. Best not to rush it, the good thing about knitting is you can just pick it up and put it down quite easily. I've just started the heel flap on my first sock and I'm only knitting when I know I won't be interrupted for a little bit as I need to concentrate! xx

    1. There's some gorgeous sock yarn, I love all the different patterns it produces without any effort at all. I was always worried about turning the heel before I'd knit socks but you only have to do it once and all the mystery's gone, it's the picking up of stitches which I don't like.

  8. The important thing is to enjoy your knitting ... i think those colours work so well together.

    All the best Jan
