Last night, we went to see Eleanor perform with her drama group in The Passion, a rock opera by Adrian Snell.
The musical is based on the Gospel accounts of the last week of Jesus' life, beginning with the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion and resurrection.
Eleanor took the leading female role of Mary Mother of Jesus and sang a beautiful solo, Son Of The World, as well as singing a duet, Jesus Alive!, with a friend from school who took the part of Mary Magdalene.
Afterwards, we went in to the parish centre for refreshments where Eleanor's recently retired singing teacher came and found us. It was a lovely surprise for Eleanor as she didn't know she was coming to see the play.
The last performance is tonight, after which, Eleanor will be taking a break from her drama group until her exams are finished. It's been quite full on for her rehearsing as well as revising for her GCSE's, but she's been working very hard so that she could give her best.
It sounds like she's a busy young lady at the moment. I bet that she'll be glad when her exams are over. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteNever mind Eleanor, I'll be glad when her exams are over. She's so busy at the moment with one thing or another, though she is putting lots of time in to her revision, so that's good.
DeleteGosh Eleanor must be have been flat out with all the preparation for this as well as her GCSE's, but atleast she can just focus on the exams now.
ReplyDeleteYou must have been very proud parents last night! How lovely for Eleanor to see her old teacher too.
Hope all going well with Daniels 1st year exams, and good luck to Eleanore with hers.
Hang in there Jo!

It's been hectic just lately, it wasn't long ago that Eleanor took her singing exam, and then there was the music festival too. I'm glad she's just got the exams to concentrate on now. Eleanor performs regularly, but we're always still as proud of her each time we see her on stage. Daniel hasn't started his exams yet, another couple of weeks to go. I haven't heard from him this week, I hope he's studying hard.
DeleteWell done to Eleanor, and I hope that her GCSE's go just as well! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. She loves performing, just one more night to go now and then she can concentrate on her revision.
DeleteSounds wonderful. I bet you shed a few tears whilst watching her perform I know I would. So nice that she got to catch up with her old teacher too. My daughter still keeps in touch with one of her old teachers from school and even at 20 she still calls her Ms....... even though she has told her to call her by her first name now.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be the same as your daughter, I'm from the old school and always call older people Mr or Mrs, it's just how I was brought up. I'm always a bag of nerves when Eleanor performs, I can't help it. Eleanor's as cool as a cucumber about it so I tend to do all the worrying.
DeleteI know Adrian Snell's music, but I've not heard his composition of The Passion. I'm sure it was a moving performance with Eleanor taking a leading role.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that Eleanor's singing teacher came to the production the other night!
All the best as Eleanor concentrates on her GCSEs.
Eleanor was really pleased to see her singing teacher there, it's lovely that she's still taking an interest even through she's not teaching her any longer. Thank you for your good wishes for Eleanor, only a week to go now until the exams start.
DeleteGood for her. I bet you are so proud.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum

We're extremely proud of her. I would never have the nerve, even if I did have the voice, to stand up in front of so many people and act and sing.
DeleteAww bless her. I always cry when Eden does a performance! I totally embarrass her. Her first exam is the 13th May and goes right through until her last one on 18th June. Hopefully they'll both be OK as it looks like they're both putting the revision in x
ReplyDeleteEleanor's first exam is the same day as Eden's, 13th of May. Her last one is the second Maths paper on the 13th of June. Eleanor seems to be calm about it, it's me who's a bag of nerves.
DeleteWhat a wonderful evening, I bet you sat there beaming, as proud as punch! What a talented daughter you have. X
ReplyDeleteIt was a different play to the kind they usually do so it was interesting to watch. I did sit there beaming as Eleanor sang her solo and I'm always very proud of her.
DeleteHow fabulous you have got to enjoy Eleanor's talents in another production. And such a lovely surprise her singing teacher was there.
ReplyDeleteLisa x
The next production is going to be Scrooge. I don't know the musical version of this, but Eleanor's eager to audition so there'll be more rehearsals straight after her exams. We were surprised to see her singing teacher there, we didn't know she was coming.
DeleteExcellent! I am so pleased that it went well. Best wishes to Eleanor for the revision and exams! Roll on mid June!
ReplyDeleteThey all performed really well, it's a pleasure to see them. Thank you for the good wishes for Eleanor, this is one month I won't mind flying by, as you say, roll on mid June.
DeleteWell done Eleanor and hope the revision for exams goes smoothly. I'd love to hear her sing, Jo. Have a great relaxing weekend and take care.
ReplyDeleteEleanor was hard at her revision yesterday, she's certainly putting some effort in. We're spending the weekend getting on with some jobs and spending a bit of time at the allotment, nothing too exciting.
DeleteJO I would probably have blubbed the whole way through. You must have been one very proud mum!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean but I'm usually too on edge with nerves. I was a very proud mum.
DeleteWell done to Eleanor it sounds great. Good luck for the exams, not long now!
ReplyDeleteWe all enjoyed watching it, there's some really lovely music in it. Thank you for your good wished for Eleanor, only a week to go now.
