My 2014 challenges are:-
1) Knit one hat each week for The Innocent Big Knit.
2) Do something nice for me.
3) Choose a non fiction book from the library.
I've used a different pattern for the hats this month. It's by Alison Hogg and can be found on The Creations of Crazy Dazy blog. I'm really pleased how they turned out, they're so pretty.
My nice thing for February was the Girly Day which I had with Eleanor last week. I say it was a nice thing for me, but I think it was a nice day for Eleanor too.
Bigfoot by Rupert Matthews was the non fiction book which I chose from the library this month. It's subtitled True-Life Encounters With Legendary Ape-Men. It was an interesting read, but it hasn't convinced me one way or the other if these creatures exist. I wonder if we'll ever know.
Mick's has the day off work today, he had a day to take before the end of February so he wasn't going to waste it. We've been over to York to take Daniel out for lunch and we had a lovely time.
I'm loving the little hat pattern. They look like little Easter Bonnets :0)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful weekend. x
They do look like little Easter bonnets. They're so cute.
DeleteHello Jo:
ReplyDeleteAlas, we should be hard put to sew a button on let alone knit one of your wonderful looking hats. But how good it is to have challenges in life.
We have happy memories of York, not least the very splendid Castle and Transport Museums.
Jó hétvégét!
I can manage the knitting but I'm not very good at sewing, even sewing on a button causes me to break out in a sweat at the thought of it. York is a beautiful place. We're lucky enough to live fairly close by and Daniel is enjoying being at university there.
DeleteOh Jo I absolutely love your little hats they are fantastic and such bright colours. Seems you had a nice time for your second challenge I don't get much chance these days with daughter being at Uni. As for Bigfoot or not I like to think they do exist but then I was always a big fan of Harry and the Henderson:-)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist knitting the hats once I'd found the pattern. Eleanor and I had a lovely day, I'm making the most of the time I've got left with her at home, as you say, it all changes once they move out. Bigfoot is a real mystery, there's been so many sightings, though I'd have thought there'd have been some more concrete evidence by now if they do exist.
DeleteThe little hats are gorgeous, so sweet Jo. Hope you had a lovely lunch x
ReplyDeleteIt's a fabulous pattern, they're going to look so sweet on the tops of the Innocent bottles. We did have a lovely lunch, I enjoy spending time with Daniel very much.
DeleteSuch cute hats! Well done for taking time to be nice to yourself, so important xx
DeleteI'm enjoying the things I'm doing for myself, it was really lovely having some special time with Eleanor.
DeleteThey do look like little Easter bonnets, mine are a far more simpler basic pattern. It must have been lovely to see your son.
ReplyDeleteThere's lots of patterns about for the Big Knit hats, I thought this one was so pretty. Daniel's settled in to uni life so well, I don't think he misses home at all, but I have to admit that I miss him so it was nice to see him.
DeleteJo I love how you keep your challenges! I couldnt even manage my Ladybird tuesday post this week. We are up to our eyes in decorating at the moment and something had to give.
ReplyDeleteI manage to keep up with my challenges as I always make them fun. I probably wouldn't keep up with them if they were proper challenges which were hard to do. I noticed that you hadn't done your Ladybird Tuesday post, did you read my last post about the Ladybird book you inspired me to track down? I hate decorating, I don't envy you.
DeleteYour hats are lovely. I'm currently knitting wash cloths as presents. I had a me day or rather morning in Canterbury last Sunday, lovely. Amanda x
ReplyDeleteThank you. I thought it was a really pretty pattern. I shall pop over and see the wash cloths you're making as I've got some cotton yarn ready to make some myself. It's lovely to take time out for yourself, I hope you enjoyed your morning in Canterbury.
DeleteThe wee hats are so cute, Jo. :o)
ReplyDeleteThey really are. I bought some tiny little roses to just finish them off.
DeleteI think those hats are lovely, especially with the little added touches!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice day out.
Lisa x
Thank you. They're totally different from the others I've made so far. We had a lovely day out, it's always nice to see Daniel, even though he isn't very far away from us and I speak to him fairly regularly via Skype.
DeleteI agree with everyone else, the little hats are adorable, must have a look at your link. Girlie days out are the best, but then so is catching up with the boys! skype is a wonderful tool, when we can get signal!! lol have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteThere's so many patterns to be found on the internet these days, I'm always spoilt for choice. I agree, I love girly days out but I enjoy spending time with Daniel just as much. I only started using Skype when Daniel went to uni, it's a great way to stay in touch.
DeleteThat's three very varied items that you've posted about.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that's an interesting book choice. Flighty xx
I do like to vary my challenges, keeps them interesting. The book was really interesting, I don't know what made me choose it from the library, but it was a good choice.
Deletelove your hats - they look expertly knit....thanks for giving me a mention.
ReplyDeleteThank you, though I don't know about them being expertly knit, the pattern is so easy to follow so thank you for sharing it.
DeleteThe hats are so pretty! I love the colors. That book looks right up my alley. I love reading about the supernatural and other weird things, haha. But especially if there's some real science involved too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased with the colours, I keep changing my mind about which one is my favourite. I enjoy reading about things like this too, a bit of a mystery but one where there could be some truth in it.
DeleteLove those little hats and a good way to use up scraps. May pop over to that blog later and get the pattern. Congrats on keeping up with your challenges and hope the day in York was great. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good way to use up scraps, and a charity is benefitting from it. We had a flying visit to York. Daniel had lectures in the morning and then another one at 3pm so we had just enough time to take him out for something to eat. We called in for a wander round a garden centre on the way home.
DeleteHELLO JO!!
DeleteI've actually missed you and your blog! It seems like about a million years since I have had time to sit down and visit everyone, and this is right before I hit the gym, then do errands and then pack for my trip to London, so it's like a never ending race, but I love it so I won't complain. I have to tell you though, the one day that I get a chance to visit you and say hello I see these GORGEOUS little hats! So those are for charity? You are such an amazing human being and an inspiration! Any child that gets those will be blessed. Also, my son Andrew is obsessed with Big Foot, he's sure that he is still tramping around somewhere on the Planet, so I will have to get this book for him, like seriously... that kid is convinced that the Loch Ness Monster is real too! Maybe they are, maybe he knows something we don't!!
Have a wonderful and amazing week, and if you can get to London, I would love to meet up with you next weekend!
Much love,
Tammy x
The hats are for The Innocent Big Knit. They put the hats on the top of Innocent Smoothie bottles and the company donates 25p to Age UK for every bottle with a hat which is sold. Some of the Big Foot sightings told in the book are amazing, I'm sure Andrew would enjoy reading it. I'd love to meet up with you but London isn't a place we visit, unfortunately. I think I've only been four times in my life. Have a great trip.
