Planning A New Year

I've been transferring all my information in to my new 2014 diary. I've had so many appointments set up and dates for one thing or another to remember, I've just been jotting them all down, but I'm now able to write them all in to the appropriate dates. I think I'll have to buy my next diary a bit earlier in the year than I've done this time.

I started using a filofax again last year, I wrote about it in my Diary Love post. At the beginning of this year, I bought a new filofax with some money I was given when my uncle died, I wrote about that in my It's Here post.

I'm really enjoying using a filofax again, I keep so many notes and lists in it, as well as my diary and addresses and telephone numbers. It's really handy to have all the information I need in one place. It definitely keeps me organised.

  1. I used to love the feel of starting to write in a new diary each year - all those clean fresh pages. We've gone all digital now which lacks the same satisfaction, but does have the advantage that what I put in the calendar will sync to Joes iphone so we don't get out of step with each other.

    1. I know exactly what you mean about writing in a new diary, it's a bit like a blank canvas, you never know how the year's going to pan out or what each date holds in store. I don't really get on with technology so I'd never rely on a digital calendar, I'd end up at the right appointment on the wrong day and missing important events. It's good how you can both be in sync with each other though.

  2. When I was teaching I always received a free diary - academic year, so the first thing I would write in was the holidays! Says it all eh? lol!

    1. I think you had your priorities right. I have a whole little section in my filofax for holidays, a page with the dates Mick takes, a page for places where we've stayed with prices, a page for ideas for future holidays and a page for places to go when we have holiday time at home.

  3. That reminds me that I must get a next year's diary. I think that a Filofax is a much better idea than any electronic gizmo! Flighty xx

    1. I think I need to start buying my diary around September time, I tend to start making appointments for the following year around that time so it would be a good idea to get one then. I'm an old fashioned girl at heart, well, that and the fact that I'm not very good with technology, so I'll stick to paper and pen.

  4. Oh Jo you are so much more organised than me this year. I still haven't bought a diary yet for next year. I do have a filofax but I have a feeling it's been packed away as we were thinking of moving earlier in the year. We have since decided to stay at The Willows but needless to say in de-cluttering ready to move I think there are an awful lot of things still not surfaced back into circulation from boxes in the garage. It will therefore be a diary again next year till I find it again.

    1. My filofax does keep me organised, I'd be lost without it. I used to use a filofax many years ago and then changed on to a diary, but I'm so glad to be using my filofax again. I don't know what made me stop using it, I can't imagine now. Hope you find yours soon.

  5. Loving the Filofax! I'm just moving back down to a personal size after a couple of months in A5 so it will be my turn to fill in the details!

    1. I've been using an A5 as my household binder and a personal as my on the go planner. I'm still going to use both next year, but I'm not going to use a diary in the A5, I'm hoping I can fit everything in to my personal.

  6. I was given a mini filofax for my birthday a couple of years ago, as others have said I use it all the time, now the problem is trying to get new diary pages sent out to me, so frustrating!!

    1. Amazon do the diary pages, though if you look on the Philofaxy website, they have pages which you can print off yourself. I wouldn't be without my filofax now.

  7. I havent even got my diary for next year yet Jo. I must confess that if I dont get one for christmas I wait until the sales and get one half price! I already have 3 appointments booked to transfer over, for dentists and hairdressing appointments.

    1. I used to put a diary on my Christmas list, but I was always itching to get my hands on it before then as I had so many things to write in it already. I keep track of appointments for all four of us, so you can imagine how many I had to write in.

  9. Ever so organised aren't you. I've not yet purchased a diary, but really must do so before Xmas. Too unorganised for my own comfort at the moment. Take care.

    1. I try to be, but my filofax really helps. I jot down nearly everything and then it's all there at my fingertips keeping me on the straight and narrow. I'm sure you'll be more organised once you've got the move over with.

    1. My filofax is never far away from me, it's got everything I need to know in it and helps me to stay organised. I think it really helps to jot everything down.

  11. A filofax does sound tempting, everything all in one place would be good, I do tend to keep a few notebooks going at once which probably doesn't help with my organisation!

    1. I think the secret is that everything is all in one place, though it isn't jumbled together as you can have as many sections for different things as you want. Put one on your Christmas list, Santa might be listening.

  12. Most of our info such as birthdays, appointments etc go on our family calendar, I do quite enjoy the process of moving it all over :) xx

    1. I've never got on with calendars. I tried one of those family planner ones but things just got missed off and it didn't keep me organised at all. I know lots of people swear by their calendars though, what works for one doesn't always work for another.

  13. I just left a comment on the good life, saying how organised you are and now I see that you are really organised! I have bought a new diary, but not given any thought to writing things in it yet. I better get a move on. I like a diary too, partly because my mobile phone is so old it only makes phone calls!, but I like to be able to write other things down in it too and tuck in notes/invites/receipts etc. Glad to see that I am not the only one sticking to paper. xx

    1. I could never use my phone as a planner. Mick does, he can't get on with paper at all, but like you, I like writing everything down and keeping bits and pieces all together. I think you'd get on very well with a filofax from what you say.

    1. I'm so pleased that I'm back to using my filofax again, it really does help me to stay organised. I've always loved stationery.

  15. I'm another big stationery fan, although a kind of rolling system with notebooks seems to work better for me than a filofax. And of course I use the calendar on my iPhone. But paper and pen is best methinks.

    1. I hope it's keeping you organised. I've gone for a lined week on two pages diary, I hope it gives me enough room to get everything in as I used two diaries last year, one in the personal and one in the A5. I'm not using a diary in my A5 this year so everything will need to fit in the personal.

    1. Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment. I always start out so neat at the start of the year but by the end of January, that's usually gone to pot.
