Come Rain Or Shine

One of the things I've learnt since getting Archie is that no matter what the weather's doing, you have to get out there in it as a dog needs his walks. Having a dog gives me the push I need to get myself out in the fresh air every day, something I neglected to do before getting Archie.

It's not all fun though, and not for Archie either. He's not particularly fond of the rain.

When he comes home filthy, he has to have a bath. That's something else he's not fond of, though I have to say that he's quite good and stands still. Notice how clean the water is when he's just got in.

This is the colour of the water after he's been washed.

We've got gales again here today. Oh well, I'd better get my coat on as Archie's waiting for walkies!

  1. He's so cute, bless him. Look at that little face! My daughter keeps on about getting a dog, she wants a westie (I think) and wants to call him Henry.

    Lots of love,

  2. If you have visited my blog you will have seen my new responsibility - can't wait for walks with Ted and Freida - Freida loves other dogs. Yesterday she had a great walk on the beach so is quite content in front of the fire as I sit here.

  3. Poor Archie, he looks fed up. Lottie doesn't "do" rain! and stays quite clean thanks to her short fur, but when she has her feet washed in the sink she hates it! xx

  7. I thought dogs loved the water. Cats on the other hand, hate baths.

  10. I leave the winter walks to my husband I'm afraid... I'm a fair weather walker. Luckily our labrador just needs a rub down with a towel when she gets wet. She loves it!

  15. Our cavalier has exactly the same expression when he was a bath. He hates the rain too. And on the very rare occasion he's gone in sea (usually to chase us when we were swimming) he swims like a lady scared of getting her hair wet with a look of panic on his face.

  18. Thank you for all your lovely comments.

Emma - Archie's breeder had given him the name of Henry before he came to us, but we changed it as we'd already thought of a name before we'd seen him.

Denise - Ted is so cute. We used to have a Springer Spaniel when I was a child, they have lots of energy.

Serendipity - Archie only has to go out when it's a little bit wet and he comes home soaking, it's because his fur is so long, it trails on the ground at some points.

Kathy - Archie races around the house when the towel comes out, he hates being towel dried.

Lorna - Archie loves the sea, and especially rock pools, though he doesn't like being towel dried afterwards.

Lisa - Archie is really quite good in the bath. We used to have a Labrador when I was a child and he would try to jump out of the bath, it wasn't easy keeping him in there, he was a strong dog.
