In The Making - December 2019

A roundup of the things I'm working on at the moment.

I was hoping that I might have another project off the needles before I did this month's roundup but that wasn't to be. Being ill during November held back my Christmas preparations and I feel as though I've been playing catch up ever since so crafting has had to take a bit of a back seat.

There's only one thing I've been picking up when I've had time and that's the Wildflowers & Honeycomb Socks which I started some time ago. I've now turned the heel on the second sock and I'm about half way through the gusset decreases. It will be plain sailing then as I knit down the foot.

Not much to show this month but I'm sure my crafting will pick up again in the new year.

    1. It's such a pretty pattern, I really love this one. The yarn compliments it perfectly. I've got everyone here right through Christmas to New Year so I think my crafting will be taking a back seat until they're all back to work.

    1. It is a busy time of year, I was hoping to be ahead with my preparations this year but I'm playing catch-up now after being ill.

  3. Lovely yarn and pattern...

Read somewhere, about someone's mother, who simply wrapped not done projects, and put them under the tree. She would take them back, and finish them, without pressure.

I thought that sounded wise... Many people are in a rush, to finish crafting projects, for Christmas. And that, takes the fun out of them.

    Just a thought...

    1. I'm not in a rush to finish the projects I've got on the go, it would just be nice to have a little extra crafting time at the moment but other things are taking up my time just now. I'll be able to get back to my crafting again when I'm all done.

    1. The pattern and yarn conjure up pictures of spring to me. At this rate I'll have them done just in time.

  5. I hope you're back on track with your Christmas preparations. Is it such a fuss for one day isn't it really?
These socks look really nice, I like both the pattern and the yarn.
    Happy knitting!

    1. I never look at Christmas as just one day as Mick always gets the whole period between Christmas and New Year off work. This year we've got Daniel and Jasmine here for that time too, and of course Eleanor's finished uni now so she's here too, then her boyfriend will be spending part of the time here. I love it though when all the family are around. This sock pattern is really pretty, I'm really enjoying knitting it.

  7. Oohhh they're lovely. The quatrefoil reminds me of the little lace ankle socks I used to wear, with a little satin bow on the side. Best, Jane x

    1. Socks are a good project to have on the needles when you've only got time for a few rows here and there. I managed to finish off the gusset decreases last night. I can't wait to have all the family here for Christmas, Daniel spent last Christmas in America with Jasmine's family and we really missed them.

  9. That is a lovely pattern, you have picked the perfect yarn for it. I am looking forward to knitting more socks next year I have a ball of yarn ready to be cast on once I have all the gift knitting done.

Hope you are feeling a little better now?

    1. I'd been wanting to knit this pattern for some time, it's so pretty. I shall definitely knit it again too, it's easy to follow but the pattern gives a bit of added interest. I'm feeling much better now, thank you for asking.

  10. Re: Your comment in my blog.... Yes, you know, how places change with time. Your parent's home.... The land being bought up and the lovely view gone. -sigh-

    1. The yarn is beautifully soft and I think it goes really well with the pattern. There seems to be so much illness around at the moment, I'm hoping that I manage to stay well over Christmas now, it's good to have it out of the way in time for the big day.

  13. Another lovely pair of socks, such a pretty colour too, cream with specks of yellow and blue.
Since I don't know the first thing about knitting, when I see your projects in progress, they look so very complicated!

    1. I'm glad that I learnt to knit as a young child, it's been a skill I've carried with me throughout my life and once you've picked up the basic two stitches there's nothing to stop you going on to more complicated things, though I do tend to knit simple patterns, they just look more complicated than they actually are.

  14. Those socks are SO pretty! I, too, wish I could knit! My grandmother was a knitter but, alas, I had no interest then.

    1. It's such a pretty pattern. I've tried to teach Eleanor to knit, she can do the basics but she doesn't really have much interest.
