The Child by Fiona Barton is a book I'd seen on a Kindle deal. I'd heard nothing about it before but the blurb interested me sufficiently for me to download it. I'm glad I did as it was a very good read.
"When a paragraph in an evening newspaper reveals a decades-old tragedy, most readers barely give it a glance. But for three strangers it's impossible to ignore.
For one woman, it's a reminder of the worst thing that ever happened to her.
For another, it reveals the dangerous possibility that her darkest secret is about to be discovered.
And for the third, a journalist, it's the first clue in a hunt to uncover the truth.
The Child's story will be told."
I enjoyed how this book was written, short chapters each from the different women's point of view. All quite separate at the start but gradually merging until they were all part of the same story.
It's a book which kept me reading wanting to know more. I'd definitely recommend it.
If you want to see what else I've been reading lately, you can find a list in the sidebar.
Sounds intriguing, often books with children don't go down well in our bookclub. I think it's all relative really, I mean I have children but 2 member's have young children. I may look this one up at the library. Thanks for the review. Cathy xReplyDelete
I can understand people being a bit dubious about reading books about children but without giving anything away, this is more of a mystery about what happened to the child.Delete
I will add this book to my list of books to read, sounds good, thank you for sharing.ReplyDelete
I enjoyed it and it kept me guessing.Delete
I'm not surprised that you enjoyed it as it got lots of good reviews and ratings over on Goodreads. xxReplyDelete
I've never used Goodreads, I should check it out.Delete
Oh that sounds good.ReplyDelete
I enjoyed it and can recommend it.Delete
I will add it to my list, although its growing more than I am reading at the moment.ReplyDelete
There's just so many good books around, we'll never get through them all.Delete
Another one to add to the list. :) xxReplyDelete
Those lists get longer and longer, don't they?Delete
Sounds like a great mystery!ReplyDelete
But not one, I'd want to read, right now. Guess I need light and fluffy, right now. ,-)

I usually enjoy books which I can just read without having to think too hard. It sometimes takes the pleasure out of reading if you have to use your brain.Delete
This one has popped up as a recommendation on my kindle, I have kindle unlimited again at the moment because there looked to be some good books. Thanks for the review.ReplyDelete
I only went off the blurb, which can sometimes be misleading, but I enjoyed this one.Delete
Those page turner type books are one reason I would always go to bed so late when I was young...only one more chapter :)ReplyDelete
They can get me like that. I don't want to put a book down when I get so involved.Delete
Although I don't read as much, that sounds quite interesting, so may put it on hold at the library. Thanks Jo & take care.ReplyDelete
I think you'd enjoy this one, a bit of a mystery.Delete
Your note reminds me I downloaded a book over Christmas that I intended to read while on vacation, then vacation got cancelled due to Dad's health issues, and I forgot about my book. Might have to charge the Kindle and have a look see. Your book sounds interesting.ReplyDelete
There's quite a few books on my Kindle which I haven't got round to reading yet, though I do like to have some books waiting for me.Delete
Thanks Jo, another one for the list!ReplyDelete
I don't know about you but I'll never get round to reading half of what's on my list, I read so many good reviews that the list is so long.Delete
Sounds like a good read, thanks for the review xcxReplyDelete
I enjoyed it, it kept me interested right to the end.Delete
I'd love to give it a try, nothing better than a good mystery. Thanks for sharing, Jo.ReplyDelete
I think you'd enjoy it, it's a bit of a page turner.Delete
I find it so amazing that readers have such differing thoughts on a book, 2 ladies at my book group didn't enjoy this one at all so it didn't get on my 'to read' list.ReplyDelete
I think we all look for different things in books. I know I'm quite easily pleased though, I can read a book on it's merits without looking deeper, and I'm quite choosy in what I do read so perhaps that's why there's very few books which I read which I don't enjoy.Delete
Sounds good to me, I must look out for it!xxxReplyDelete
I hope you enjoy it if you do decide to read it.Delete
Sounds a good book.ReplyDelete
I'll add it to my ever growing list of books to read :)
All the best Jan
If your list is anything like mine it grows every day.Delete
