Another On The List

Another project has been added to the list of things on the go. When Amanda from Eight by Six blog showed a photo of the Blackberry Beanie that she was knitting, it occured to me that Eleanor may like this style of hat. I was right, so I printed off the pattern and ordered some yarn.

I'm using the suggested yarn, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. It contains cashmere and merino and it's super soft. Eleanor chose a dark green shade known as basil as it will go well with her coat. These photos don't pick the colour up properly, it's actually a lovely shade, not the murky colour that's shown here.

It was Tuesday evening when I cast on and I'm about half way through now, it shouldn't take me long to finish.

You can see why this stitch is called blackberry stitch, the little bobbles look exactly like little blackberries.

My other projects have been put on the back burner for now but it shouldn't be long before I can get on with them again.

  1. It looks like a lovely hat, I bought 4 balls of Cashmerino Aran in a sale the other week so have some in stock. I might try this for my next hat, I'm in the middle of knitting a hat in some self striping yarn I was sent as part of a swap x

    1. I'm very impressed with Cashmerino Aran, it's so soft. I've put the hat I want to knit myself on hold while I get this done, I always end up knitting for other people first.

  2. There are just too many projects and not enough hours in a day aren't there Jo. I could do with 48 hours in my 24 hour day in order to fit everything in. Beanie looks great might have to think about that one as gifts later in the year.

  4. Ooh that's nice, I like the bobbly pattern. Maybe it'll distract you away from the tunnocks tea cakes for a while! ;-)

    1. I'm really enjoying knitting this pattern, very straightforward which I like. Ha ha, there's only one tea cake left in the house, Eleanor and I will be fighting for it.

    1. Asking Eleanor if she'd like me to knit it for her means that my hat is put on hold. The things we mums do for our daughters.

    1. I bought my yarn from Ebay. I use a seller called 55Aileen, I've bought yarn from her many times, she gives a good service and it's very reasonable.

    1. Eleanor chose the colour to go with her coat, but I like it anyway. I'm glad I didn't have to choose as there's so many lovely shades in this yarn.

    1. The hat I want to knit for myself has been put on hold so that I can get this done for Eleanor, funny how that happens isn't it. I'll hopefully get it finished this week though.

    1. This particular type of Debbie Bliss yarn is beautiful, so soft to the touch and it knits up really well. I've used Debbie Bliss a few times and never been disappointed with it.

  15. I have a hat-a-holic that would like that one! It looks like one I made from a 70's hat pattern called a bubble hat. The bobbles look a bit bigger. Thanks for the link! Nice wool too! :)

    1. Eleanor's quite eager for it to be finished so it's definitely one that meets the younger generation's approval. I like the pattern, it gives a good texture.
