One Down, Eleven To Go

I've finally finished the first day of my Twelve Days of Christmas cross stitch.

This design is by Plum Street Samplers, it's a free chart on their blog. I'm really enjoying stitching it, I'm especially enjoying the limited colour palette, there's just four colours in the whole of the design and as you can see, I've only used two of them so far.

I'm very happy with my choice of fabric. I'm using a 32 count Murano in Vintage Country Mocha, the highest fabric count I've used so far, and though my eyesight is quite bad, I'm managing perfectly well with my magnifying light.

Marlene from Poppy Patchwork and Linda from Linda's Crafty Corner are stitching along with me so don't forget to check their blogs out to find out how they're getting on.

I know I won't have this finished for this Christmas but I don't mind that, it's not about rushing, it's about enjoying the process and I'm certainly doing that.

  1. I am a follower of Poppy patchwork so I'm up to date with her progress too. I do love the reduced colour pallet.

  2. It looks great, Jo. I downloaded the designs when you first showed them to us but I haven't done anything with them ... yet! Maybe in time for next Christmas ... or the next ... or the next! 🤣

  6. I see so many rushing to get pieces of stitching done so they can start the next one, making it more like a competition to see who can get the most done rather than enjoying the stitching.
I love the country mocha fabric it lends itself to so many projects although I'm not a fan of 32 count, I prefer 28 count but that's more to do with my eyes than anything. Enjoy your stitching, it's going to look lovely :-)

  7. Beautiful! Well done on using the high count fabric, which I would definitely struggle with now. Look forward to seeing your progress. Take care, stay safe & huggles.

    1. I'm quite new to cross stitch so I don't have a lot of experience with different floss, but this is DMC and it's supposed to be colourfast.

  12. Beautiful! I'd like to get back into cross stitching although 14 count is about the smallest I can see well enough to enjoy the process. Thanks for the intro to Plum Street.

  13. Beautiful, Jo. Cross stitch samplers have been made since the 16th century and I find this type of needlework fascinating. Just wish I had your talent. P. x

  14. I like your choice of fabric too, I don't think it would look so nice on a bright white.
    I'm glad you're enjoying it.
