My Crafting Rotation

I've got quite a few projects on the go at the moment from a number of different crafts, some of them get worked on regularly whereas others seem to be languishing so I've come up with a way to ensure that the things I want to work on get some regular attention.

I've taken seven of my outstanding knitting, crochet and cross stitch projects and I'm making sure that I choose one each day and putting at least an hour's work into it. Things may not progress as quickly as they would if I were concentrating solely on one or two projects but at least all seven projects are getting worked on.

I've got a list of other outstanding projects or things that I want to start and they'll get added to the rotation one by one as each current project gets finished.

It may seem that it's a laborious task working this way but I'm really enjoying it. I haven't given each project a set day to be worked on, I pick up whichever one I fancy that day and I'm loving that each piece is getting closer to being finished.

  3. That's a great idea and it does help you tackle you are less enthusiastic about things. Its the technique I adopt when I hate a particular cleaning job!

  6. I don't have enough self discipline but i have lined up my WIPs and am not allowing myself to cast on anything other than socks un till I have worked through them. Penny sweater is now finished and I will select another bag at random this evening. Now that I am spinning it is difficult to concebtrate on anything else.

  7. What a smart lady you are! I have been slowly working my way through projects, too. Still have a list that seems never-ending. I am proud of you for plugging away a bit at a time. xo Diana

  8. That's a good idea Jo. I pick up my crocheting when my eyes need a rest from an embroidery project. I decided to make more granny squares and add to the blanket that I'm working on. I shall add them to the panel I've already done. Going round and round one panel wasn't working out so I unpicked it and started again with the granny squares. They're more manageable and choosing different colours for each one adds to the variety and is more enjoyable. I hope you're feeling better.

  10. That's a lot of projects, I used to be the same but I reigned myself in and try to work on no more than three projects at once and do a bit of each everyday if I can. It's a great method you will find that those projects will be done before you know it.

  12. A great idea & in some ways I do that, but not really knowingly. I've have finished a few "oldies" of late & am working on labeling all the quilts I have in the cupboard. Come summer I hope to spend more time in the garden too. Take care, stay safe & huggles.

  14. i did this during the NZ lockdown - hauled all the projects out of multiple cupboards. Finished a ton of stuff and started a scrap fabric quilt - finished that weeks after lockdown. Have been a knitting machine since!

  16. Seven projects! I like your plan, sometimes working on a neglected project can rekindle the love for it. With your plan to work on each for a bit, you'll soon be finishing all xx

  17. I think that's a great idea. I'm always back and forth about how I do things - sometimes I'll work on one project for a week or so, other times I go back and forth, then others I simply want everything on the needles finished so I go all out with each one until it's done. I cast on a bunch of different projects last week because I simply felt like it & now am alternating between them. There are no rules - just whatever makes us happy at any given time :)

  19. I think that's a really good idea. I'm terrible for getting carried away by the thrill of a new project before the current one is finished. Yesterday I finished off two projects which have been sitting at the bottom of my bag for months and I really enjoyed the work, I couldn't imagine why I had given up on them, and then I started a new one. At the beginning of the year I worked on three projects at once and loved the feeling when they were all finished together. x

  23. Your projects all look wonderful together. I love the idea of reminding ourselves what we are working on and intentionally picking of one of those to projects each day. I hope they all continue to bring you joy.
