Pressing Flowers

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post. It does mean such a lot to me to have so much support here in Blogland. I can't tell you what a relief it was to receive the letter, it's put my mind at rest now.

We went into the woods again on Saturday, the same woods where we went for Another Local Walk For Archie. The bluebells are flowering now and it looks so pretty.

I was hoping to collect some flowers with a view to pressing them but there wasn't all that much about.

The wood anemone and the calendine are in very short supply now, they're both coming to the end of their flowering period but I managed to find a few hidden here and there.

Wild garlic is blooming all over the place now and the garlicky scent is hard to miss, it's so pungent.

The hawthorn is just starting to flower.

Dandelion seed heads always look so pretty but I don't think I'd manage to get them home in one piece to press.

I managed to collect a few things to bring home with me.

It's just a case of waiting for a few weeks now to see how they press.

I might have a go at pressing flowers from the garden next time.

  1. Nice to see Archie enjoying a stroll through the bluebells.
I hope you have success with your flower pressing. Lovely photos from your walk.
I'm so glad you don't have the worry of your test results preying on your mind anymore.
Take care, stay safe and well x

  2. I've never pressed flowers before - well, not since I was a child - but I bet they'd look lovely on handmade cards. I might have to think about that!

  4. Clever you Jo, mixing this lovely idea into your day along with other craft. Hope it goes well & we see the results. I just remembered, Keith made me a flower press "ages"ago. Wonder where it is? Thank you. Take care, stay safe and huggles.

  6. The bluebells look so pretty. It's good Archie can have a good run. Here dogs are kept on leads. Ranger has an extending lead, so he can wander a bit. He has a golf and cricket ball he plays fetch with in the garden, but he really wants to have a good run, he's full of energy. He gets a bit barmy and over excitable at times; poor boy's getting a bit stir crazy LOL. I hope your flowers pressing works well. Take care and stay safe. Best, Jane x

  10. I've been looking everywhere for wild garlic but to no avail. I'm not sure if it's too dry. Looking forward to the press reveal.

  11. How lovely to see so many flowers in bloom. I haven't pressed a flower for years, I used to love doing it as a child but was never very patient and couldn't leave the press alone long enough.
Looks like Archie enjoys the bluebells :)

  12. I wish the bluebell woods I usually visit during bluebell time were nearer. I shall have to go for another walk and see if there are any in our neighbourhood where I haven't been before. Archie looks as if he enjoyed his walk. I'm looking forward to seeing your pressed flowers when they're ready.

  15. What a lovely thing to do! I don't think I've pressed any flowers since I was a girl. Back then, you couldn't open any of my books without having some fall out.

  20. I too have a flower press, it was a gift for my granddaughter from a friend. She might just like it to try something different with the lockdown, I better find it out and give it to DD next time she drops off something here. Thanks for the reminder.
    Your walk looks lovely.

  21. The spring flowers are all so beautiful just now and it's a lovely photograph of Archie in amongst the bluebells. I noticed Lily had a yellow face while we were out walking the other day, she was enjoying the softness of dandelions against her cheeks!
