Yarndale Sock Line Reminder

This is just a little reminder for those of you who intend to donate hand made socks for the Yarndale Sock Line that it's now time. Christine from Winwick Mum put up her Yarndale Sock Line 2018 post at the beginning of the month and you can find all the details there, including the address to which the socks should be posted. Don't worry if you haven't yet made your socks, you've got until the 1st of September to get them there so there's plenty of time yet.

Of course, if you're like me, you'll have your socks all ready to post off.

Ha ha, I'm only joking, I don't think I've ever been ahead of myself like this before. I made my Yarndale Socks 2018 back in March, well ahead of the game this year, I'm never usually this organised.

One of the things I love is that you're able to find out exactly where your socks have gone. Christine compiles a list of which socks are donated to which organisation and makes this available online. Last year my socks went to a care home where the residents have dementia which made me very happy as I like to support these kind of organisations with my own lovely mum suffering from dementia too.

I'm hoping that the sock line includes more pairs of socks than ever before. It's such a lovely project to be involved in, I'm sure each pair of socks which is donated brings a little comfort to someone who needs it very much.

  2. Such a worthwhile cause and so nice that you are able to know where your knit was donated. Those socks are gorgeous - I'm loving the colourway and the speckled stripes. If it were me, I would be starting on a pair for myself.

    1. I love that we get to know where our socks are donated. I haven't used this yarn before but it knit up so nice and I really enjoyed knitting these socks so I shall definitely get some more of the yarn for myself at some point.

  3. Oh goodness Jo you are well a head of the game this year and way a head of me. I was organised last year and managed two pairs but not so this year. It is on my things to do list which seems to be growing by the day. I'm currently working on a charity blanket to be raffled for a little boy with a disability. They are hoping to raise funds for much needed equipment so I was glad to help. I hadn't realised you could find out where your socks have gone to I will have to look into this it would be nice to see where they ended up. I'm sure I will have seen it on one of Christine's post but just completely forgot about it.

    1. You can find where the socks in 2017 were donated to here:- https://www.winwickmum.co.uk/p/yarndale-sock-line-destinations-2017.html
I doubt I'd have had my socks all ready to go if I'd got a grandchild on the way, as you have, my time would be taken up knitting for him or her. Plus you do so much charity knitting and crocheting, I can see why you've got a long list.

    2. Thanks for this Jo. I have been and looked and found out that both my pairs went to help the homeless which is fantastic. Its definitely made me think about getting on with mine ready for September now but have also just found out that another colleague is expecting a baby so thats another blanket to add to the list for November.

    3. I think it's lovely to be able to see where your own socks were donated, they go to some wonderful places. There'll be steam coming off your crochet hook with all the blankets you're making.

    1. I think it's such a worthwhile thing to do. Anyone who has slipped a pair of handmade socks on their feet know what a lovely cosy thing it is, so I hope all the donated socks bring a lot of comfort to those who need it.

  12. LOVE your socks, very pretty, cheery and colorful. I've not heard of this charity. Will check it out. I don't do socks, but perhaps I can help by blogging about it to help spread the word.

    1. Yarndale is a yarn festival which is set in Skipton in North Yorkshire, it attracts thousands of visitors each year. The Sock Line is one of the charity projects which take place at the festival each year. All the socks which are sent are displayed at Yarndale, making for some very pretty bunting, before being donated to different organisations. It's something that I enjoy being a part of.
