Walkers Crisps are running a Choose or Lose promotion at the moment.
Three classic flavours are pitted against flavours from around the world.
Smoky Bacon Vs Bacon & Cheddar.
I'm not a huge fan of Smoky Bacon but I definitely prefer it to Bacon & Cheddar.
Salt & Vinegar Vs Lime & Black Pepper.
Salt & Vinegar is a favourite so that one has to stay. The Lime & Black Pepper tastes very similar to Salt & Vinegar at first but it's got a really weird fruity aftertaste.
Prawn Cocktail Vs Paprika.
When did Prawn Cocktail become a classic flavour? They seem to be foisted on us at every opportunity. They're included in the Walkers Classic variety pack and they're also in the Meaty variety pack too. I don't mind Prawn Cocktail every once in a while but it's overkill, I'll go with the Paprika on this one which I expected to be rather spicy but only really had a very mild flavour.
What about you, which would you choose?
And what about Marmite crisps, not included in the promotion, but are you a lover or a hater? Mick and Eleanor love them, Daniel and I dislike them with a passion.
You can vote on the Choose or Lose website.
I don't like any of those flavours as they are too overpowering. I'd be happy with those Smith's ones from the past - plain with a little bag of salt inside for me to discard! Mind you I wouldn't mind the marmite ones as long as they weren't too salty. 😊
ReplyDeleteI like the Salt 'n' Shake crisps too and happily eat them without adding the salt. Saying that, I don't mind salt but not too much of it.
DeleteSorry rarely eat crisps. Weird I know.
ReplyDeleteCrisps are my downfall, I know they're not very healthy but I can't resist them.
DeleteI'm not a huge fan of flavoured crisps and don't usually eat Walkers anyway. In this house it's usually Hoops or Cheesy Curls that turn your fingers orange! The Paprika ones sound tasty. X
ReplyDeleteI remember enjoying Snaps when I was a child, in spicy tomato flavour. I wonder if they still do those.
DeleteNo to marmite, love prawn cocktail.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of anything with that Marmite flavour. Mick and Eleanor love Twiglets too.
DeleteI rarely eat crisps nowadays and have always preferred plain ones, and I don't like Marmite! xx
ReplyDeleteI enjoy plain crisps too, though Walkers cheese and onion are my favourites.
DeletePaprika and ready salted - that's me all sorted. In Switzerland, where I grew up, these were the two only flavours available. Unbelievable, yes? x
ReplyDeleteI never knew that. I can't imagine having just two flavours of crisps to choose from.
DeleteFor me it would be Smokey Bacon, Salt & Vinegar and Prawn Cocktail. Mind you, having said that, I don't remember the last time I had any of those flavours but it would feel wrong to get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind losing the prawn cocktail but I definitely wouldn't want to lose salt & vinegar, I think too many people like that flavour for it to be done away with.
DeleteI go with the three you chose, though I actually prefer a plain chip or a tortilla chip.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to eat plain crisps but I'm not very fond of tortilla crisps.
DeleteNot really keen on any of them preferring a plain or ready salted packet.
ReplyDeleteI think these comments show that plain crisps seem to be the most popular.
DeleteHere in Canada, there are many combinations, but only a few are popular enough for all of the major brands to carry them: Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Onion, BBQ, Ketchup and Smokey Bacon. The first two are my favourite while the last 3 I could do without.
ReplyDeleteI like the first two flavours you mention more than the others. It's funny how different countries have different favourites.
DeleteLove the marmite ones... seconds please!
ReplyDeleteI hate the prawn being in the big bags, DH always ends up with those. Keep the S&V and the Smokey bacon I vote.
You either love Marmite or you hate it, there's no in between. The prawn cocktail crisps are always left in the big bags here when the others have been eaten. It's so annoying that they put them in all the bags, classic and meaty ones. I'm with you on your vote.
DeleteFlavours in crisps? They should be plain & maybe lightly salted (none would be better for me), but I suppose lots of people love all the different types, so I'll let them choose. I once found an odd brand in Aldi on the Specials tables, which were sort of waffle cut & lightly salted & they were nice, but never seen them since. I'm not a big fan of crisps anyway, but on the odd occasion do enjoy. Wonder what they'll come up with next. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWalkers are my favourite brand but I also like the Seabrook crinkle cut ones which are made here in Yorkshire. I enjoy plain crisps but I also like flavours, it's good to have a choice.
DeleteI'm not a fan of crispa, can't tell you the last time I ate a bag! If I had to choose it would be to keep salt and vinegar and smoky bacon flavours. On the rare occasion I have a bag I go for ready salted every time.
ReplyDeleteI have a weakness for crisps, I wish I didn't, I'd choose them over chocolate every time. I'd keep salt & vinegar and smoky bacon too.
DeleteReady salted for me, in Ireland until very recently all crisps were flavoured ones, we don't like any of them so crisps were never bought, then came Walkers, new to the Irish market, and plain crisps are once again on the menu. Ham and crisp sandwiches, yummy!
ReplyDeleteHow strange that you could buy flavoured crisps but not ready salted. I'm quite partial to crisps in sandwiches too, yum.
DeleteReady salted for me most of the time but very rarely.
ReplyDeleteI wish I didn't love crisps so much, I know they're not very healthy but I can't resist them.
DeleteI would keep S&V, smokey bacon and paprika, oh and marmite I love marmite. Trouble is they spray milk powder on the crisps to make the flavouring stick which is complete no no for me, even plain ones carry a warning. :-( xcx
ReplyDeleteYou've chosen the same ones as I have but I don't like Marmite at all. What a shame you can't eat them because of the milk powder.
DeleteI think I'd choose all the original flavours and I imagine they'll be keeping them too!
ReplyDeleteI used to quite like the pickled onion flavour crisps :D
I think they'll keep all the original flavours, why get rid of them if they bill them as classic flavours? I love the pickled onion Monster Munch, I haven't had them in a very long time.
DeleteI hate this post, LOL, Since Tom discovered his gall stones we have to keep to an amost nil fat diet, oh how we both miss them, used to go through loads. lol
ReplyDeleteBriony

Oh no, I would really miss crisps if I had to give them up. They're not the healthiest of things but I really enjoy them.
DeleteI'd eat Marmite ones every day I LOVE them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried these flavours I don't think the lime one is one I'd like.
We had some paprika ones on holiday and we all loved those.
Lisa x
Mick and Eleanor love Marmite ones too but they're not for me. The lime crisps have quite a weird taste, there's a fruity aftertaste which doesn't fit well with crisps.
DeleteHave to say we don't eat crisps ...
ReplyDeleteI believe Gary Lineker earns well from the adverts though!
Happy Sunday Wishes ... where do the weeks go?
All the best Jan
Gary Lineker certainly landed a cushy number with his Walker's crisps ads. I've lost about thirty weeks out of this year so far, they disappear without me noticing.
DeleteI absolutely LOVE Marmite crisps. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand Marmite in any shape or form but Mick was extremely happy when he found Marmite flavour crisps.
DeleteI've cut down on crisps and if I buy any I get plain ones as I don't like the aftertaste of flavoured ones.
ReplyDeleteI have to ration myself with crisps otherwise I'd eat far too many.
DeleteI love paprika... but I don't actually eat the Walkers flavours, I get Lays from the Polish deli opposite. I'm sadly disappointed at the lime and black pepper crisps. I thought they might taste nicer.
ReplyDeleteI think the lime and black pepper flavour is really weird, it's the aftertaste. I prefer the Walkers flavours to the Lays, I guess I'm a traditionalist at heart.
DeleteI love all crisps, my fave here has to be the marmite....sorry. Lol xxx
ReplyDeleteI think Mick's favourite would be the Marmite ones too.
DeleteNever having tasted the marmite flavour, but disliking marmite as I do, it would be a lose it vote from me. Good old cheese and onion or ready salted for me every time xx
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, chesse & onion or ready salted are my favourites.
