A Beautiful Quilt

My lovely friend, Susan, from Granny Smith's Quilting blog lives in Australia but I was lucky enough to meet her a couple of years ago when she came over for a holiday. She's very sneaky though, I had no idea that she'd made plans to visit again this year until I got a phone call out of the blue one day telling me she was here.

We made loose arrangements to meet before she returned to Australia but it wasn't to be, we just couldn't find a time when we were both free. We had a chance meeting at Bolton Abbey one day in early September but that was it.

It was my birthday while Susan was over here and she'd brought with her, all the way from Australia, a gift for me, how lucky am I? Here it is, a most beautiful quilted bed runner.

I'm not going to use it on the bed though, I think it's perfect to drape over the back of the sofa, that way it can be shown off as it deserves. Just look at all the beautiful fabric which has been used.

Even the back is lovely.

This close up shows the flowery quilting stitch. Sorry if that's not the right term, I'm not a quilter myself.

Thank you so much Susan, I'm absolutely thrilled with it and I shall treasure it always.

    1. I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Susan has so many people to visit whilst she's over here that we just didn't get chance to meet up properly this time, which is a shame.

  6. Oh, that is so beautiful and even more so because it was handmade just for you...you can practically feel the love! I've always wanted to try quilting, but with everything else on my plate it will likely be a while before I give it a go.

  13. I'm embarrassed and so wished we'd been able to meet up properly, though it was great seeing you at Bolton Abbey. Hope you are having better weather than us, though it is sort of fine today, but you'd think it was still the middle of winter. It's 11 deg now at 11am and we've had lashings of rain this month so far. Not much like half way through Spring really & even snow in the alps and Tasmania. Weird. Still have the big quilt on our bed & also snuggling under crochet rugs whilst watching TV,(trying not to use the heating). Thanks again for your friendship and lovely post about the quilt. Take care.

    1. Absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. I wish we'd been able to meet up too but at least we did see each other at Bolton Abbey. Our weather is a little mixed at the moment, though it's started off fine today. We had our first frost a couple of weeks ago, I'm not looking forward to winter one bit. Thank you again for the beautiful quilt, I'm thrilled with it.
