First of all I'd just like to thank everyone for the lovely messages you left on my last post. Monty was a beautiful bunny and a huge part of our family. We've all been very sad over the last few days and your comments have meant so much to us all, thank you so much.
I'm so lucky, not only to have so many people read and comment on my blog, but also that so many people seem to enjoy my ramblings. I'm thrilled when someone sees fit to bestow an award on this little blog as Lyn from Planner Bug did recently when she awarded me the Liebster Award. This is, in fact, the seventh time I've been given this particular award. If you look down at the very bottom of my sidebar you can see all the awards I've been given previously. I'm very fortunate to have quite a few.
I think that passing on these type of awards and nominating other blogs gives readers a chance to discover new blogs to read as well as getting to know a blogger a little better.
The rules of this award are:-
1) Post 11 random facts about yourself.
2) Answer 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
3) Nominate 11 bloggers to do the same.
4) Let the bloggers you have nominated know that they have been nominated.
11 Random Facts About Myself.
1) I loved watching programmes like The Waltons when I was a child and always wanted a large family of my own. I couldn't have more children after Eleanor so I'm thankful for the two that I did manage to have.
2) It will be our Silver Wedding Anniversary in July but we haven't made any plans to celebrate it.
3) I like watching documentaries, especially those about crime.
4) My favourite crisps are Walkers Cheese and Onion.
5) I rarely wear anything other than jeans.
6) I prefer to take a shower than a bath. I would love to be able to relax and soak in a bubble bath but I just can't do it.
7) I like most food but I don't like advocado.
8) I hate driving. I drive a fifteen year old car and it's fine as I drive it as little as possible.
9) I'm not at all sporty but I was in the school netball, rounders and swimming teams.
10) I love scented candles, my favourite fragrance is citrus.
11) My favourite season is summer, I hate being cold.
11 Questions Set By Lyn.
1) What's your drink of choice?
I drink hot drinks rarely so I'd have to choose water as my non alcoholic drink of choice, but wine otherwise, though sometimes only a cold lager will do.
2) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I could never emigrate and I'm not sure I could ever leave Leeds. I've researched my family tree and my dad's side of the family were living here right back to the 1700's, perhaps that's why I feel such strong connections to it.
3) Who inspires you the most?
My mum. She's been the person I've trusted my whole life, looked to for guidance and asked for advice.
4) Which historical event would you have liked to witness in person?
I think this is a really hard question to answer, there's so many historical events which interest me but I wouldn't particularly have liked to have been there at the time, things like the plague, the fire of London or the sinking of the Titanic. I suppose I'd go for something like the first aeroplane flight or the first moon landing which I only missed by a year, or something which I did witness on tv but which would have been great to have actually been there for like the fall of the Berlin Wall.
5) What is your favourite food?
I like most things but I really don't think you can beat a good old Sunday roast dinner, with Yorkshire Puddings of course.
6) What kind of music do you like to listen to?
I really don't listen to much music these days but I was always bopping around to chart music in the 80's. I do love musical theatre though so I suppose I'd have to say that.
7) What is your favourite tv show, past or present?
There's too many to list them all but a few from the past, Cold Feet, Starsky and Hutch and Fawlty Towers, and present, Downton Abbey and Call The Midwife.
8) What is your favourite pastime when you're alone?
I have lots of hobbies, knitting, crochet, reading, gardening and I've just started cross stitch too. I like watching tv too, but only if there's something worth watching on, I'm not one of these who channel hops until I find something.
9) What is your favourite dessert?
I prefer a starter to a dessert if I'm eating out. I can't really think of a favourite dessert, I'd choose whatever takes my fancy at the time.
10) If you could travel back in time to a particular decade in the 20th century, what would it be and why?
It would be the 80's. I was in my teens and very early twenties then and I'd like to be the same age I was then if I travelled back. I think it was a great decade to grow up in.
11) What was the last thing you bought?
A jumper from Marks and Spencer. Actually, that's not strictly true, I had a £30 voucher as an incentive for applying for a credit card so the jumper cost me nothing.

Please don't feel obliged to take part if you don't wish to do so, these blog award posts can be so time consuming and I know that not everyone accepts awards so I won't be offended if you decline, but I think it's a nice way to acknowledge some of the blogs I enjoy reading.
Thank you for nominating me, Lyn, I'm always happy when someone enjoys my blog.
We love the 80's tunes here as well, not sure the neighbours like our singing along though ;)
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I'm tone deaf so the rest of the family always tell me to stop singing.
DeleteSorry to see you've had to say goodbye to Monty, it's always sad to lose a pet, they're part of our families. Enjoyed reading your answers xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's been a very sad time over the last few days, it doesn't get any easier no matter how many pets you lose.
DeleteThank you very much for your award, but I do not participate on my blog. I am always amazed how many people read my words, I have always treated my blog as an online diary. Each year I print out the previous blogs into a book. I enjoyed reads your post, it is great to follow projects. I am off to check out the other 6 blogs.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. These type of posts do take a lot of time to write so I don't blame those who don't want to participate but I always try to myself as I know the person who nominated me took the time. I hope you enjoy the other blogs I've nominated.
DeleteThanks for the nomination; I really appreciate it and am really pleased you enjoy reading my blog. The last time I did a Liebster award post I said I wouldn't do another but I'll have a think about it before definitely declining. Thank you again. And thanks for all the information you've shared in this post!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. These posts do take a lot of time with all the answers and the links to the nominees so I understand if you'd rather not.
DeleteThat's lovely Jo, it's always nice to find out things about each other x
ReplyDeleteI think these posts are fun, apart from the time consuming aspect, and we do learn a lot about each other from them.
DeleteCongratulations, and good for you for doing this, yet again. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I feel that everyone must know everything there is to know about me by now, I've shared so much information on these award posts.
DeleteGreat to read your answers Jo, it is a nice way to get to know more about people. Congratulations on your big wedding anniversary later this year, how great is that! I bet that the years have flown by a lot faster than you imagined they would. I agree with you about the things in history, I would like to go back for a good thing, rather than a bad thing. Thank you for the nomination, I needed something to give me a kick in you know where and this has cheered me up! A big thank you to you. I will most certainly answer your questions - because they are such good ones! xx
ReplyDeleteThe last twenty five years have definitely flown by, Daniel is twenty next week and I can't believe that I'll have a twenty year old son, I don't feel old enough. I'm pleased that you're happy to accept the award and I look forward to reading the answers to my questions.
DeleteHi Jo, thanks for the nomination- my first one!! I would be pleased to accept and will get back ASAP with my answers to your questions! xx
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I'm pleased you're going to take part, I look forward to reading your answers.
DeleteI love to read these kinds of posts, Jo. No matter how long you've read someone's blog, you always can learn something more about them! Thanks for the nomination. I'll do my best to answer your questions when I finally kick this flu bug into touch. :o)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy these type of posts too, as you say, there's always things about people that you didn't know. You're welcome, no rush to post though, I know how horrible flu is.
DeleteCongratulations on receiving the award again. You're very organised with two popular blogs on the go with regular posts and I enjoy reading both. I hope the award cheered you up a little after the sadness of losing Monty who will be much missed by your family. Thank you for nominating me for the award. I've enjoyed reading more about you from your answers to Lyn's questions and I would enjoy that part of the conditions on accepting the award, but thinking of questions to pass on to others would take time. I'm quite preoccupied at the moment trying to plan some holiday breaks and family events so I will have to decline, but really appreciate the fact that you're interested in my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm very lucky that I get regular visitors to both my blogs, it does make it worthwhile writing them when people take the time to read and comment. I know these posts take a lot of time to plan and write so I don't like anyone to feel pressured in to accepting. Planning some holiday breaks sounds like fun.
DeleteI can understand why your blog has been nominated so many times, Jo! Thank you so much for participating. I really enjoyed your answers and we seem to have a few things in common :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for nominating me, I'm always so pleased when someone likes my blog enough to give me an award.
DeleteThank you so much for nominating me, Jo. I really enjoyed reading your answers. They're all interesting topics and I always enjoy learning more about you. One thing we have in common is that I love 80's music too, it's the music of my childhood. I make 80's stations on Pandora all the time.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I think most people who grew up in the 80's have a soft spot for the music of that time. I much prefer it to modern music.
DeleteGreat post, loved learned a little more about you. I have to agree with you on Mum being an inspiration, Sunday roasts with Yorkshire pudding, Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife, preferring starters, and if I lived in Leeds, I wouldn't want to leave it either!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say I think you're an English girl at heart liking some of these things, but I think you may be a Yorkshire girl at heart liking Yorkshire Puddings, Downton Abbey and Leeds.
DeleteI love these types of post - you always find interesting things out about people from these sorts of lists and questions! So sorry about Monty - always sad to lose a pet.
ReplyDeleteSome of these questions really made me think, but I do enjoy writing these posts, and reading other people's too. Thank you, we're all still very sad here, Sammy (Monty's brother) is getting lots of extra cuddles this week.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about your bunny. But congrats on the award. Well deserved.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's been a sad time for us losing Monty but he'll always be remembered.
Delete3,4,5,6 and 8 are me to a tee!! We have lots in common Jo and I always felt that through reading your blog! I love to read these sorts of facts about people, you really do get to know people this way.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how much we do have in common with other people sometimes and we can tell just by reading a blog. Little snippets of information about a person which these type of posts contain build up the bigger picture.
DeleteThank you for the award! I only realised I was nominated today, so a week late, eh? Not bad for me! I will answer your questions, and enjoy playing along, but I think you might have nominated everybody I was thinking of, so the buck might stop with me!!! (or they'll all hate me for re-nominating them!)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I think most people will have had this award at some time or another, they do seem to do the rounds.
DeleteI'm new to your blog Jo but wanted to say hello and I look forward to looking back through your posts x
ReplyDeleteWelcome. I hope you enjoy what you see and that you'll pop by again.
