It's the local gala tomorrow and Eleanor's drama group is having a bun stall to raise some much needed funds. Each year, they stage a show over three or four nights at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds, however, the money raised from ticket sales alone doesn't come anywhere near to covering the costs so they need to do lots of fundraising to help.
I thought I'd better get my baking gear out, so Eleanor and I set to work. We've made fifty six buns.
Butterfly Buns.
Chocolate Cornflake Buns.
Chocolate Frosted Buns.
Mick's auntie has dropped off some baking she's done.
Chocolate Caramel Shortbread.
Iced Buns.
Butterfly Buns.
Fingers crossed that they have better weather for the gala than we've got today, and that the stall raises some much needed funds.
Oh my they all look totally delicious! Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteI hope they taste delicious too. I didn't try any before they were sent off but I haven't had any complaints before.
DeleteAny 'bun'ting on the stall?
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum
xx
Ha ha, very clever. I don't know, I'm not sure if I can make the gala yet so I'm afraid I'm shirking my duties somewhat. At least I've sent some goodies to be sold.
DeleteOoh, I think I've put weight on just looking at all those photos! They all look delicious, I'm sure Eleanor will raise lots of money xx
ReplyDeleteI was very good and didn't even have one. I suppose I should have tested them really, but I'm sure they'll be fine.
DeleteAll of that looks delicious, Jo! You should be proud of yourself :) Fingers-crossed you sell all of them and make a tidy profit for the theatre group!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,

It's not a very nice day today, but there's usually a good turnout whatever the weather so I hope they do well.
DeleteThey all look scrummy, but here in Oz we call them "cup cakes". Will have to ask K, what he "used" to call them, as he has been out here for well over 40 years now. Just watching an old Escape to the Country and they are visiting Hebden Bridge as I write this. Hope the gala goes well and love Mum's comment about bunting. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThey're called all different things here, buns, cupcakes, fairy cakes. I've never visited Hebden Bridge even though we can get a train direct from here. It's on my list of places to visit.
DeleteThey look lovely Jo, its been yonks since I have made small cakes, hope the sale went well!
ReplyDeleteIt's a while since I've made buns too, it made a nice change. The gala is this afternoon so I hope they raise lots of money on the stall.
DeleteThose cakes all look scrummy, bet they will be gone in no time, hope the weather holds for you. Enjoy your day xcx
ReplyDeleteIt's not very nice weather wise at the moment but it's supposed to stay dry this afternoon, I hope it does.
DeleteI love cake but hardly ever make buns, I may have to whip up a batch now thy look so inviting.
ReplyDeleteI don't often make buns either, yet they're so easy to whip up in no time. I think I may have to make a batch for us.
DeleteEverything looks delicious!!!! I hope that it went well and that lots of funds were raised. xx
ReplyDeleteEleanor's taken herself off to the gala so I'm sure she'll report back how it went. I hope it's been a roaring success.
DeleteThey do look scrummy! I think a butterfly cake with a nice pot of Earl Grey may be just what I need before making tea for my hungry bunch! Hope the gala raises enough for the group. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteButterfly buns are one of my favourites. It seems as though the stall did well, just waiting to hear how much they raised now.
DeleteA very tasty contribution to the fund raising. I'd be buying the chocolate shortbread slices. Yummy.

Mick loves chocolate caramel shortbread, it's a bit sickly for me. Give me a butterfly bun instead.
DeleteThey all look so delicious, Jo. I hope she sold them all.
ReplyDeleteThey did really well at the gala. The rain held off and plenty of people were parting with their money, so I'm sure they raised a good amount.
DeleteOoh Jo, they look delicious! I havent baked for a while but then again we are trying to cut back on the calories a bit!
ReplyDeleteIt's a while since I've baked too, and ages since I've baked buns, it's got me in the mood again now.
DeleteMmm, they look great and would go very nicely with a cuppa right now ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't keep a couple back for myself, I never thought. I just fancy one now too.
DeleteHope you had good weather for the Gala and you raised lots of money for the Carriageworks Theatre show. I'm sure those yummy cakes were popular anyway!
ReplyDeleteThe weather brightened up yesterday afternoon, it was a bit cloudy in the morning so I'm glad that it didn't rain. I haven't heard how much they raised yet, but I'm sure they'll have done well.
DeleteHi Jo
ReplyDeleteHope all went well at the Gala and lots of funds raised. The buns looked fantastic and would go great with a nice cup of tea.
It seems to have gone well. The weather was fine and plenty of people turned up. I'm just waiting to hear how much they raised now.
DeleteI hope it all went well, Jo. All of those goodies look fabulous! :o)
ReplyDeleteIt went very well. The stall raised £200 and the company which one of the volunteers works for is matching this amount, so the funds are raised by £400 in total. A good day's work.
DeleteThey look lovely Jo!
ReplyDeleteThank you. They sold well by all accounts.
