Another Ripple

It wasn't long after I started Daniel's Ripple Blanket earlier in the year that Eleanor decided that she'd like one too. I was still crocheting Daniel's when we were on holiday in Cornwall, but Eleanor chose the colours she'd like from the yarn shop there and has been waiting patiently ever since.

This time, I decided that I'd do an interlocking pattern, similar to the way Lucy from Attic24 did hers.

I started this blanket off with more chains than Daniel's as I've now realised that the ripple pattern tends to pull it in a bit. I made 213 chains (15 X 14 + 3) and it looks to be a better size this time. I really liked how the interlocking pattern was working out when I first started the blanket.

I've got a little bit further on now and I'm loving it even more with all the colours now being used. The colours Eleanor chose are Khaki, Meadow, Spring Green, Pomegranate, Fondant and Candyfloss, all from the Stylecraft Special DK range. I like how the pink and green work together, and also the light and dark shades of each.

The ripple is such a relaxing pattern, I enjoy the rhythm of it, rippling up and down, back and forth while I watch tv or chat.

There's quite a way to go yet but it's a project which will keep me warm and cosy through winter.

    1. Thank you. Eleanor's pleased with it so far, so that's good. She knew the colours she wanted and Stylecraft have a good selection of shades.

  4. How lovely to catch up with you again Jo........your ripple is gorgeous, I love the colours. I'm contemplating starting my first ripple using Lucy's tutorial, I'll have to see how it goes as I'm not quite so comfortable with crochet.

    1. I'm pleased with how the colours are working together, Eleanor chose them and I think she did a good job. Ripple is a doddle once you get going. I found the foundation chain quite hard on the first blanket, but it was easier this time, I think things just take practice. Definitely give it a go though, if I can do it, anyone can.

    1. The colours were all Eleanor's choice, I don't think I'd have chosen the same but I think they look great together now. I love the interlocking ripple pattern, it gives a totally different look from how Daniel's blanket turned out.

  8. Oh, wow. It's going to be gorgeous and already looks great. I love those colors. Eleanor has excellent taste. I haven't tried the interlocking ripple yet, I'm a bit afraid I'll make a mistake with the stripe pattern.

    1. I don't think you can really make a mistake. I'm following a pattern of sorts but you can make it as random as you like. I love how the pattern is working out, it looks so different to what an ordinary ripple would look.
