Les Miserables

I don't go to the cinema very often, in fact, I can't remember the last film I went to see. I've been waiting for Les Miserables to be released though, and yesterday, I went with Mick and Eleanor to see it.

I thought it was fantastic. There's some brilliant acting, and even though the film is over two and a half hours long, it certainly held our attention.

It's been nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture.

If you're a fan of musicals, I would certainly recommend it. I shall be putting the DVD on my Christmas list.

    1. I saw your post about it and was very envious that you got to see it early. It's certainly a weepy film, though nearly anything musical makes me cry. Glad you enjoyed it too.

  2. I dreamed a dream in days gone by
Les Mis was made into a movie
I dreamed I watched and never cried
But now I know that was a booby

    Because one phrase of musical
And I'm blubbing like a baby
We go to see it this afternoon
    And I'll cry like a bufo-o-on.

Thanks for posting on the web
I hope you like my rhyming comment
Get Eleanor to sing it too
And hopefully it makes more sense!

SeriouslyI'm taking a bar of chocolate and a box of tissues x

    1. Excellent, Eleanor sang it to us. Make sure they're man-sized tissues, you'll need them. The man in front of us cried all the way through. Hope you enjoy it.

    2. Loved it! Love Hugh more: Russ fought valiantly with a weakened voice but my favourite bit was Empty Chairs when Marius actually sang at the camera. Not often you see that in films!

    3. Glad you enjoyed it, I knew you would. I don't think I can really pick out my favourite bit, too many to mention, but I had to look away when Javert was singing Stars, I'm not very good with heights. I always like the very last bit though, and it always makes me cry.

  3. I really really really want to see this film. I have wanted to watch the old version after I heard Susan Boyle sing Les Miserables ... I can't wait to see it, I've heard that you must have tissues with you!
I've missed talking to you Jo, I've started working full time again, and as you know, that with taking care of a family can zap your day completely!
I do hope you're well and that you have a most wonderful week!
    Much love,
    Tammy

    1. You must go to see the film, it's fantastic, then so is the stage production. I hope your job is going well, it must be hard working full time and taking care of the family too, but I'm sure the pay packet is worth it, you'll be able to save up for your move much faster.

  4. I would love to go see it but when I mentioned it to the husband or son I was told no way. I might just be brave and go on my own

    1. Eleanor's drama group staged it in 2011, and I have to say, they did it brilliantly. Try and get to see the film, you'll love it.

    1. I don't think it's for everyone. It's a long film, and if you're not in to musicals, then it probably isn't for you, though I'm sure some people would be converted by watching it.

  11. I think AH is just so pretty, such a lovely face.
Anyway to the movie, I'm so glad you liked it, did Mick and Eleanor like it as much as you?
G and I watched the show in the West End the night he proposed to me!
Although I loved the show I won't be going to see the movie, it was just a special night I want to keep those memories about it.
    Silly really!

    1. I think Mick and Eleanor may have wanted to see this film even more than I did, and they really enjoyed it too. It's not silly wanting to keep those memories, I think it's really romantic.
