Twenty Years

It's twenty years today since my wonderful sister died, she was just forty two years old.

My sister was my bridesmaid.
There were twelve years between us, she used to spoil me rotten as a child and we were very close as adults, she was my best friend. She was such a kind and caring person and we always had lots of laughs together.

It doesn't seem long since I took that dreadful phone call from her husband on that Monday morning in 1999, but then on the other hand, such a lot has happened since.

We'll be taking some flowers to the crematorium this afternoon, though I don't need any special place to remember her, she's in my thoughts every day.

  3. That's very sad to have lost your sister at such a young age. I can't even imagine how much you miss her. I hope you are able to find some comfort in the happy memories you have. I would have loved to have had a sister - (or even a brother) - and am envious of people who have siblings. Sending best wishes. x

  21. Oh Jo! I know it is heartbreaking. I am so sorry you lost your sister so young. I know your memories serve you well though.

It's so odd- I woke up this morning just missing my brother/only sibling- it was an especially deep ache in my heart this morning for some reason. He's been gone over 5 years now--seems like yesterday he was on the phone and laughing with me over some nonsense. xo Diana

    1. Thank you. I think you tend to think that your siblings will be around for most of your life, but that's not always the case. It's so sad when part of the family, especially those of your own generation, are no longer there.
