Christmas Cracker

Eleanor's still got nearly five weeks before she goes back to university but I'm already organising things for when she's home again. She breaks up for Christmas later this year than she has done in previous years but she'll be home just in time to see Northern Ballet's The Nutcracker before it ends its run in Leeds.

It's many years since I've been to see a ballet and it's something Eleanor's never seen before so we're both really looking forward to it and it will get us in the spirit in the run up to Christmas.

Have you got anything in the diary yet for the time leading up to Christmas?

  1. I've never been to the ballet, not something i'm sure i would like but my middle daughter, Joanne loves it, she's been several times.
I love to visit the Christmas markets and was thinking the other day that I need to look around and book something up. Christmas will come around much much quicker than we think!

    1. Eleanor's never been to the ballet before so it will be interesting to see what she thinks of it. We're thinking of making a day of it and going to the Christmas market first and perhaps do a bit of Christmas shopping. It will be a nice day out.

And it's very good, to get tickets early. I'm sure it is popular.

    1. You're going to be very busy in the run up to Christmas with all that crocheting. I made everyone socks last year so I'm giving myself a Christmas off, no handmade gifts this year.

    1. I'm hoping to be all ready for Christmas by the time Eleanor comes home from university so this will be the beginning of our Christmas countdown, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm still struggling a bit with my toe but I'm sure it'll soon be on the mend.

  9. What a lovely special outing for you both, I have never been to the ballet, but something to really look forward and enjoying a day exploring together. I think ours will be very strange this year as we shall be on our own with both Daniel and Rebecca being in the UK xcx

    1. That will be strange having Christmas on your own. At the moment we're not sure whether Daniel will be home for Christmas this year as they really want to spend a couple of weeks with her family this year in America but Daniel's not sure if he can get the time off work or not.

    1. I think seeing a show around Christmas time is quite magical. I used to go to the pantomime when I was young and also took my kids when they were young too. That's quite a traditional thing to do in the UK.

    1. I love Christmas and that includes the planning and preparations so I do start thinking about it in advance, though in reality I always seem to be at the last push.

  13. Seeing the Nutcracker is one of our traditions that we rarely miss. It feels like autumn here already -- Christmas will be here before we know it. P x

  14. This is lovely!! I love a ballet - my mum used to take me all the time to the Durban Playhouse for all the shows... I do miss that - and often wish my children could have that same experience! You both will love it 🌼

Someone mentioned Strictly Come Dancing is about to start next month and that always means Christmas will be upon me before I know it watching that each week.

Nothing sorted here as yet, although we did have a very interesting conversation about Christmas this morning. Wasn't expecting that at 8am this morning!
