After The Fall

I've said before how I enjoy books by Charity Norman but After The Fall is my favourite yet.

It's funny because I've been gripped from the very first page with a couple of her books, however, this one took a bit of getting into. Once I was a few chapters in, I couldn't put it down.

A five year old boy falls from the upstairs veranda of an isolated farmhouse. It looks like an accident but his mother, Martha McNamara, knows exactly what's happened, though she's keeping it to herself. Emigrating to New Zealand was a dream for the family but it quickly turns into a nightmare.

I've enjoyed every book I've read by Charity Norman so far, and there's only one now left for me to read. I do hope she writes some more soon.

  3. I had to double check because the story line seemed familiar, but yes, this book also goes by another title, Second Chances, I read it ages ago under that title and really enjoyed too, (why do publishers do that??) The only other one I've read by her is The Son In Law, and that was really good if you haven't read it.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed this book too. I've read The Son In Law, the only one of hers that I haven't read is Freeing Grace but it's on my list to read. See You In September is a really good story if you haven't read that one.

  9. Sounds like a great book - and I like how you sort of hooked us in with a mystery so that we now want to know more :) I don't often get hooked by a book within the first few pages - normally it takes a chapter or two.

    1. I think it's great if you can get hooked straight away but some books, such as this one, can be just as good but take a couple of chapters to get going.
