Merry Christmas 2016

Things aren't going quite to plan this Christmas. Firstly, I'm absolutely streaming with a cold, it's the second one I've had in as many weeks and this time it's found its way on to my chest. I'm feeling thoroughly fed up. I had so many plans for these last few days before the big day but I'm not going to be fit for anything.

Secondly, my dad was taken in to hospital by ambulance yesterday. We're not sure what the problem is yet but he's been kept in while tests are done. We're hoping it's nothing too serious and that he'll be home again soon. In the meantime, we're having to support my elderly mum who relies on us more and more these days.

I hadn't intended signing off my blog for the Christmas period quite so early but I'm sure you understand that I've got other things on my plate just now. I'd just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas. I hope it brings you joy, happiness and everything else you wish for. Hopefully, I'll be back in the period between Christmas and the new year, I'll see you then.

  1. Sorry to hear about your Dad Jo, I hope that all will prove to be OK and that he just needs a few days of being in hospital and some meds and will then be home again for the new year. Hope your cold gets better soon and that you can enjoy Christmas, I am sure that your own lovely family will take care of you. Sending good thoughts and hugs to you all and best wishes for as good a Christmas as you can have. I will be thinking of you. xx

  2. Oh Jo, I'm so sorry to hear that your Dad was rushed to hospital and has been kept in for tests. I hope he receives the treatment he needs for a good recovery and that you will also soon be free of the cold that's gone on to your chest so that you can look after your Mum. Also I hope the rest of the family stay well. Wishing you and your family all the best this Christmas. Thank you for dropping by and leaving a kind message on my blog. I appreciate it and your blog friendship especially when you are so preoccupied.

  5. Sorry to hear you're unwell Jo, and best wishes and a speedy recovery for both you and your dad.......it's a similar state of affairs here I'm afraid, hence not much blogging going on for a while. Happy Christmas to you and your family, at least we both have some lovely advent presents to open, something nice to look forward to.

  12. Jo, I am so sorry to hear you are poorly, I have gone down with an absolute stinker of a cold as well and have been feeling blah this week when I should be getting on doing things. I hope your Dad will be ok and home again soon, what a worry for you. It can be difficult at this time of year for the elderly can't it, my Mum is 91 on Boxing Day and really immobile - she decided she didn't want to make the effort of struggling into the car this year so won't be coming to me for Christmas Day. I have taken her up some supplies so hope she will be ok and we will go up on Boxing Day to see her on her birthday. Take care, hope you manage to enjoy Christmas. xx

  15. So sorry, Jo, to hear about your Dad and hope he will be better soon. And you with a cold - but haven't the Queen and Prince Philip also got colds, or so we've been informed. At least you are in the vanguard of royal fashion with a cold now! Poor HM and Prince P, I hope they will be better soon, and enjoy their Christmas at Sandringham.

  16. I'm so sorry that Xmas is not going so well. I think you are probably run down yourself, and hope your Dad's tests come back as OK. Take it one day at a time, eat properly, get enough rest, enjoy time with Mick & the kids & I'll be in touch around New Year. Merry Xmas to you all, take care & huggles.

I know all about the cough/cold bug that's doing the rounds, DH and I both had a very quiet Christmas due to it and it shows no sign of leaving us.
