Joyful World - July

February is finished at last. Here's Mr and Mrs Mallard looking all loved up, presumably because Valentine's Day is this month.

I'm really loving this project and though it's a big design to tackle for a newbie to cross stitch like me, having it split up in to twelve totally separate areas makes it more manageable.

I can see already how lovely it's going to look when it's finished.

    1. I'm not sure about that, when I see the designs which some people stitch up I realise I've got a long way to go to get to that stage.

    1. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can. I'm usually rubbish with a needle and thread.

  6. It's a perfect starting project, all the small monthly designs, giving you less to stitch each time and then building into a fantastic huge finished piece. I'm loving stitching mine.

  8. It looks great, Jo. I like having smaller sections to stitch at one time too. Some of the really big designs can be very intimidating, especially when you're just starting to work on them.

    1. Having smaller sections in a larger design certainly makes it less intimidating. I like to see how each part adds to the overall effect, it's going to look lovely once it's finished.

    1. It's such a lovely design. It should be easy enough to change some of the months around to correspond with what's happening there, the months are also given in different languages for those who don't speak English.

    1. I think it's the length of time it takes to complete a project that you need the patience for, the actual crafting is really enjoyable.

    1. I think each section will keep me interested in the project. It's easy to get bored when working on something so large but the change of design each month is like starting afresh.

    1. I'm sure you'll get back to it in time. I'm the same with my crochet along, the CAL was finished long ago but I'm still a way off finishing my project yet. I do like to work on things in my own time, it takes the pleasure out of it if I'm having to rush.

  15. This will be gorgeous when you're finished, my mom was a cross stitcher and did massive beautiful pieces, luckily I have 2 of them, I'll have to show you sometime. Are you on instagram? I can't remember. Anyway, this is absolutely lovely! Have a great week xx

    1. Projects like these are lovely things to keep in the family. I have some embroidery that my nana did during the blackouts in the war, it will get passed on to Eleanor eventually. No, I'm not on Instagram, I've managed to avoid most social media so far.

    1. I'd love to. I keep saying that I'll get Eleanor to get her machine out so that I can have a go, it's just finding the time with all the other projects I've got on the go.
