Christmas Yarn

I got some lovely wooly gifts for Christmas this year. Would you like to see?

Look at this huge pack of Stylecraft Special DK. The pack is inspired by Lucy from Attic24 and includes the 17 shades which make up her Granny Stripe blanket. I'm not sure if I'll make a Granny Stripe blanket with it myself, I may use it for something different. It's still sealed in the bag it came in, it will be better leaving it this way to store it until I'm ready to use it, but I can't wait to get it all out and play with the colours, so many of them.

I also got some other Stylecraft yarn. This is Classique Cotton DK, I absolutely love the colours. I've earmarked some of this yarn for some washcloths, they should brighten up the bathroom.

I was very spoilt with this Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. It's so soft and scrummy. I've decided that I'm not going to use this yarn yet, I'd like to build up a little stash of different colours before I make up my mind what to use it for.

One thing's for sure, I'm going to be busy with yarny projects in 2014.

    1. I love all the colours. I do love planning, especially when it comes to blankets. I've got two on the go at the moment so it will give me some time to think about what I want to do with this little lot.

  5. Those colours are all "delicious". Can't wait to see what ideas you come up with for them. My ripple is looking ok, I think? I'm enjoying sitting with my feet up hooking away while watching TV. Take care.

    1. The colours are scrummy, aren't they? I'm still going with Eleanor's ripple, I love the rhythm of it. I have to admit that I've been knitting more just lately though.

  6. Lovely presents! I really adore Stylecraft Special DK, I think it's my favorite acrylic. I also have some Baby Cashmerino and I've been doing the same, waiting to use it as I build up a stash. I think I have about 15 balls now.

    1. Stylecraft Special DK is my favourite acrylic too, I don't think it's as scratchy and squeaky as some and it comes in lots of lovely colours too. I don't know how long it will take to build up a stash of Baby Cashmerino, it's very expensive.

  11. You certainly do have a rainbow of colours.
I love that aqua blue... reminds me of a beautiful beach along the ocean on a Summer's day.
It is -13 C here today, I kid you not!

    1. Colours can remind you of so many things, that's what I love about a whole rainbow of them. -13 is very cold, I hope you're snuggling up indoors.

  12. These are lovely, I am so jealous. I am really keen to buy some more wool; I mainly have access to a large stash of 4ply, but would love some of the Stylecraft and some cotton to make dishcloths (although hubby won't use them!) but really cannot justify the space or money to buy more. I am also keen to do more patchwork, but as our living space is so limited I can only do one thing at a time. (but will enjoy seeing what everyone else is making!)

    1. I love my dishcloths, even Mick thinks they're better than shop bought. 4ply is a good thickness, I think you could make most things with that, but I know what you mean about Stylecraft, there's some great colours in the range.

  16. What a wonderful delivery. You've chosen some lovely colours there. I've still never tried Stylecraft Special DK although I've heard a lot of good things about it, but I have to say I love Debbie Bliss cashmerino and, when budgets allow, it's my favourite. I look forward to seeing what you make with all this lovely yarn! x

    1. I had the colours chosen for me and I love them all, so I think I've done really well. Stylecraft Special DK is my favourite budget yarn and the great thing about it is that it comes in so many lovely colours. I don't know if having Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino is a good thing or not, I know I'm going to love using it but it's so expensive.
