Chasing The Winter Blues Away

We're certainly getting some wintery weather at the moment. January started very mild and I was beginning to wonder if the temperature was going to dip at all. We had snow at the start of the week, and there's still bits of it hanging around, and today we've got freezing fog which doesn't look as though it's going to lift at all.

I hate being cold, but don't mind looking at wintery weather through the window whilst I'm snuggled up nice and warm in the house. It's nice to have some colour indoors too, to brighten up the dreary days.

Earlier on this month, I happened to pop in to the local supermarket just at the time when they were reducing the flowers. This gorgeous bouquet should have been £7.50 but it was reduced down to £1.88. There wasn't a thing wrong with the flowers, and they lasted for a fortnight.

They've been helping me to chase the winter blues away for a whole fortnight, that's how long they lasted. At £1.88, that's what I call a bargain.

    1. I couldn't believe they had been reduced by so much, especially when there wasn't a thing wrong with them.

    1. I really struck lucky with these, I don't think they'd have still been there two minutes later.

  5. That's probably going to the bargain of 2013! It's unusual for roses to last so well. It's been really wintery down here today - and snow is forcast for Friday and the weekend. At least we're halfway through January now. Jx

    1. I don't think I'll see another bargain like that for a while. There was one rose included which came out beautifully and really lasted, as you say, unusual. We've got snow here, but not as much as was forecast, but there's still time yet.

    1. I shop in Tesco usually, but it's funny really, I don't tend to shop at a particular time of the day, yet I end up dropping on a bargain, I must be lucky.

    1. I agree, it's not often that things are on offer at such a low price, even when they've been reduced.

    1. I definitely stuck lucky with these. They must have needed the space, because there wasn't a thing wrong with them.

  11. What an amazing deal Jo - and they look so fresh and pretty. So often supermarket cut flowers don't last very long and when you've paid a fair bit it seems a little extravagant, but you can feel no guilt with those!
More snow on the way this weekend by the sounds of things!
    Keep warm!

  12. Lovely flowers Joe and what a bargain. My eldest daughter bought me a bouquet of Tescos Finest last weekend and though they were lovely I dread to think of the cost!!!! But, they were a gift and I have enjoyed them all week in this dreary weather x

  14. and if you hadn't bought them, they would probably have ended up in a rubbish bin. Such waste, so very glad you took them home for a fortnight's pleasure.

    1. That's very true. At least the supermarket reduced them, and therefore avoided this.
