Can you believe we'll be in to December on Saturday? I can't. It's sort of crept up on me this year. I used to be so organised but I seem to get worse every year. I've hardly done anything towards Christmas yet, but I'm hoping to make a big dent in the present shopping on Saturday as I'm planning on popping in to Leeds. I don't relish the thought of Leeds on a Saturday in December, it'll be so busy, but there's a few things that I can't get from anywhere else, so I'll have to go.
The advent calendars will be coming out on Saturday as we count down to Christmas. It doesn't matter how old the kids are, Daniel's 17 and Eleanor's 14, I still buy them a chocolate advent calendar. Eleanor looks forward to it, even if Daniel does give me a look as if to say, don't you know how old I am?
Archie gets a calendar too. Behind each window are some doggy chocolate drops.
Only 26 sleeps to Christmas Day.
You're never too old for a calendar, we bought our 10 yr old daughter a lego one, and our 24yr old son wants to know where his chocolate one is! It is all kinda exciting :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I wish someone would buy me one.
DeleteMy daughter is 44 and I still get her an Advent calendar.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely mum you are. I don't think 17 year old boys think it's cool to have an advent calendar, he'll learn.
DeleteI have to confess I'm not yet in the Christmas festivities mood. KP loves to have a chocolate advent calendar and if she isn't careful about eating the right one on the right day the OH will help her out - he's chocolate mad, much to KP's consternation.
ReplyDeleteHope you get a lo of your shopping done on Saturday.

I'm the same this year, though I do actually love Christmas. I think things will change once I know I've got something done. I think KP needs to hide her advent calendar away from her dad, either that or dad needs to put an IOU in the advent calendar window.
DeleteMy DD is 24 and she's still getting my crochet Advent countdown calendar. Each crochet motif comes with its own little packet of sweets.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum
xx
That sounds like a really special advent calendar, I wouldn't mind one of those myself/
DeleteOne minute Xmas feels like it's ages away, the next it's just around the corner. I've got so many things on my 'to make' list - I'm never gonna be finished in time.
ReplyDeleteChristmas does seem to creep up when you're not looking. I was making gifts last year right up to the last minute, so I've taken the pressure off a little this year, not quite so many hand made gifts.
DeleteOr another way of putting it ... four weeks today it will be all be over ... eek!
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping ... I'm doing the rest of mine online (long live Etsy ;) )
Thank you for linking to the giveaway Jo :)
Blimey, put it like that and I really am behind with things. I need to get the main things, then I'm sure I can manage online too. It's a fab giveaway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
DeleteOurs will be put in place tonight ready for the morning. although we have a poorly girl here at the mo!

Oh no. Sending lots of get well soon wishes to S. There's so many bugs flying about at the moment, but I suppose it's better to get illness out of the way now before Christmas comes.
DeleteI filled KL's advent calendar this morning. It's a hand made one with embroidered ' pockets' - I made it years ago. K has one aswell - I'll fill it and she can empty it when we see her.
ReplyDeleteThe advent calendar sounds lovely, and so special too when it's something which comes out year after year, a Christmas tradition.
DeleteI bet Daniel secretly loves the Christmas countdown. As I teen I remember pretending to be thoroughly bored by Christmas but secretly I love it. x
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. I think he prefers the day itself when he gets to open his presents than the countdown. I actually prefer the run up to Christmas and all it's promise.
