My knitting mojo has returned with a vengeance. I really want to get all my languishing projects finished but it's so hard not to cast on any new things so I thought I'd start something which would be a quick knit and would be off my needles in no time.
So I started with a little baby cardigan and it turned into three.
This is the Fuss Free Baby Cardigan by Louise Tilbrook. If I knit this one again I would omit a couple of rows from the neck, it just seems a little too high.
My favourite of the three is Oh Baby! Cardi by Roberta Rich. It's a simple pattern and gives a nice finish.
Jasmine Baby Jacket by Marianna Mel is more like the old fashioned matinee jackets which most babies of a certain generation wore for the first few months of their lives.
All these patterns are free on Ravelry and were knit using Sirdar Snuggly DK. Unfortunately, my idea of having a quick cast on and then getting back to the projects I've already got on the go hasn't quite worked out as I'd hoped as I now want to cast on more new things.
And no, there are no babies on the way here but I do love to knit baby garments as they're instant gratification, quick and easy, on and off the needles in no time at all. They're ready and waiting for the first baby that comes along.
I am waiting patiently for one of my Grandchildren to produce a Great Grandchild for me as I'm longing to knit again. I know I could do socks but I really fancy some baby clothes.

They are all pretty, I always made V necks for mine when they were little.
ReplyDeleteSweet cardigans. I'm tempted, with a new baby in the family, but by the time I finished it, she would be in school!
ReplyDeleteAdorable little sweaters, great work! I agree the neck on the first one is a bit high, and the middle one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you had some exciting news to share. The baby cardigans are lovely, I really like the matinee jacket.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable, I love the pretty pastels.

Neither of my sons has a partner, so no family babies to knit for. I do knit for coworkers and sometimes for the fetal demise programme at work. I used old Paton's patterns after checking with the Mum to be about colours and if they are OK with vintage. They all are and I've knit grey, royal blue, burgundy, the lace work looks lovely in the non traditional colours.
ReplyDeleteLovely Jo & to think you probably wore a matinee jacket as a baby, because my DD of similar age is named after one I was knitting way back while I was pregnant with her. Glad to see your mojo has returned. Have a lovely weekend, take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet Jo, well done on finishing them x
ReplyDeleteAll three are lovely, I particularly like the last one, love a matinee coat :-)
ReplyDeleteI think all three look lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
All the best Jan
They are all very sweet. I always think there is something rather satisfying about a quick knit. Xx
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Jo.
ReplyDeleteThe cardies look wonderful, Jo. I wish my girlies were closer so I could make them some. The post is so unreliable right now, it's not worth the worry of sending things!
ReplyDeleteI love a quick knit, your baby cardigans are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThey are super cute! Good luck with your languishing WIPs, I have a fair few of those myself!

The baby jackets/cardigans are all so lovely Jo. A brilliant way to use up and odd ball or two. Have a lovely rest of the week x
ReplyDeleteThose are all so sweet! I am going to a baby shower for my new little grandson tomorrow and my daughter is expecting a baby girl in the fall, so I am enjoying seeing your little works of art. Have fun knitting!
ReplyDeleteThey are just lovely. Here's to the first baby coming along!xxx
ReplyDeleteHope you can help Jo, I saw these sweet cardigans that you've made. I'm wanting a simple cardigan to knit in white with a rainbow edge (i plan to knit the rib and then a band of rainbow yarn - self patterning ball of yarn). Have you blogged about other baby cardigans please? The blue v neck, is that for a boy? I have a very old pattern but it has a cable pattern on it. I may just go to the yarn shop. It's for the WI, they've asked for people to knit cardigans for Rainbow babies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy x
The Oh! Baby cardigan is a lovely easy pattern. Boys traditionally wear V necks but I think they're just as nice for a girl. The button band is knit on, so there's no going back and picking up stitches and the buttonholes can be placed on the left or the right, traditionally boys have the buttons on the right hand side and girls on the left. The pattern is by Roberta Rich and it's a free download on Ravelry. It's definitely one I'd knit again as it's so easy, it doesn't take very much yarn and it's simple and straightforward. Hope this helps.
