It's been six years since I last had my eyes tested, yes, six years. I can't believe it either. In my defence I was going to book an appointment when the pandemic hit, we can blame most things on that these days.
I knew already that I'd need some new reading glasses, I have to squint through my old glasses to be able to see anything and I was right, I needed a stronger prescription. I was given distance glasses when I had my last appointment to use when I was driving, but it's well over three years ago now that I got rid of my car and I no longer drive so I don't wear those any more. The optician said I no longer need those glasses if I'm not driving.
So I chose some new frames. Specsavers have a 2 for 1 deal on, you buy one pair at £69 or more and you get a second pair free, which is really handy as I leave one pair upstairs by my bed and use the other pair downstairs and take them out and about with me. I'm not really fussy with the frames, I tried on less than half a dozen pairs before I'd picked these out, and I went for both the same.
It's great being able to see clearly again when I'm reading or doing any close work. I should have definitely made an appointment sooner.
Good for you finally getting new glasses, sounding like you really needed them. I got new ones at the beginning of the Pandemic, as I kept getting them tangled in my mask & broke them. Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteNothing beats being able to see clearly.
ReplyDeleteI chose my new specs when restrictions were in place, needing to wear a mask and having to place any pair you touched into a box if not suitable. Needless to say I am not happy with my choice of frames and am still wearing my old ones. So glad you are seeing clearly again and your new frames are nice.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you were able to get things sorted for yourself. I hope you can enjoy your close work and reading even more now!
ReplyDeleteYour new spex look great, Jo. I bet you are so happy to be able to see properly again!
ReplyDelete69 pounds for 2 pairs of glasses?!?!? My one pair was 500 pounds in NZ! Even at Specsavers for my eyes are 350 pounds there!
ReplyDeleteI got some new glasses for close-up and I have to buy children's size. I'm wearing bright pink My Little Pony!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely style of frame you've chosen and it's great that you can see clearly again. :)
ReplyDeleteI got new reading specs last year and they look very much like yours but yours were a bargain, mine cost double that and it was for just one pair. I'll have to try spec savers next time. Xx
ReplyDeleteDesign is not the problem; the lenses are. Tests are not science, and sometimes the result is not good.
ReplyDeleteI have mine tested every year and usually need new lenses. As to the cost let's just say very expensive. xx
ReplyDeleteI wear tri-vocals, have for years and would never be able to go 6 years without an eye exam. I get a yearly exam, but typically only need new lenses every 2 years. I keep a pair for the computer separate from my tri-vocals so I don't have to tip my neck as much while on the computer. Really makes a difference. I get good deals at Costco's, but still have my eyes checked at the Doctors office. Nice neutral frames, that will go with anything you wear.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
They look god Jo.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough I have an optician appointment soon.
All the best Jan
Very nice Jo, a very flattering style and so useful for reading all those new recipes you fancy trying.
ReplyDeleteI had my eyes tested and new glasses in January, I was called in November but when you are 60 you get a free eye test, so I waited until I'd turned 60 in December, lol. Bonus was I also got 20% off because of my age too, there are some advantages to starting a new decade, ha ha. I couldn't manage without my glasses now, although I only need them for reading but like you I keep a pair by my bed.
ReplyDeleteI got new glasses earlier this year after waiting 3 years due to the pandemic. I gave up on Specsavers though... Mum had to go multiple times and still they didn't get her glasses right. In the end, I took her to a local independent opticians and they found multiple things wrong with the Specsavers glasses. Each shop is a franchise though, so I'm sure you won't have the same problems!
