A Crafty Birthday

It was my birthday on Thursday and I received lots of crafty gifts this year so I thought I'd show you what I got. As I'm starting a new sewing hobby, there were lots of things on my wishlist for everyone to choose from.

Mick bought me the first cross stitch design in the Jack Frost's Tree Farm series by Little House Needleworks. There are seven designs in all which can be stitched as one piece or separately. He also bought me a patchwork ruler and a breadboard needle keep from Chapel View Crafts, I've already got one needlekeep but need more now that I have more than one stitchy project on the go.

I received a double sided self-healing cutting mat and a rotary cutter from Daniel. The cutting mat is A2 size, a nice size for my needs.

I treated myself to the Luna Lapin book by Sarah Peel last year, so Eleanor bought me the kit to go with it so that I can make Luna Lapin. The kit includes everything you need to make the cute little rabbit.

I received some fabulous crafty gifts from my bloggy and Instagram friends too. Maggie from Blackcountry Wench sent a gorgeous drawstring project bag and two mini skeins. I can always do with extra project bags as I seem to have more and more things on the go, and the yarn will look lovely added to my scrappy blanket.

Di, a friend on Instagram who lives in Australia, sent a cross stitch project bag, so handy as it has a see through front so you can see what's inside, a skein of gorgeous Dingo Dyeworks yarn, some variegated embroidery floss, thread storage cards, a thread keep and some stickers which will be added to my journal. Such a generous gift which will all be put to very good use.

I received lots of non-crafty gifts too and I also received lots of wonderful cards.

I'm sure you'll agree I was thoroughly spoilt.

Mick took last week off work, we were hoping to get off for a few days out but unfortunately, I was a bit under the weather so we didn't end up going very far and stayed close to home. Although Mick's been at home all the time since before lockdown in March, it was nice him being here without having to work.

Don't forget, if you haven't already entered my giveaway, you've got until midday on Wednesday the 16th of September 2020 to do so, just leave a comment on my Tenth Blog Anniversary Giveaway post. I also just want to mention that some comments which have been left on that post have not shown up. I've gone back through my emails and added the comments I'm able to, but unfortunately, I don't get an email for every comment which is left and so I'm unable to track down two or three missing comments. Please check back on that post and make sure that your comment is there, if not, please leave another comment in order to be entered in the giveaway. I'm sorry to have to ask you to do this but I can't see any other way round it as I don't know whose comments are missing.

  2. Dear Jo
What lovely gifts and just perfect for your current hobbies and new hobbies too. I have the Luna Lapin book, but have never got round to making her. This reminder could be just what I need (just like the EPP cushion cover...!)
    Best wishes

  3. Hello Jo, I would love to take part in your giveaway I read your blog but I do not comment every time. You are very similar with my taste in cross stitching and patchwork I am into crocheting at the moment.
    Have a good week.

  12. Wow, what lovely birthday surprises in these tough times. Lots to keep you busy over the upcoming cooler months. Mine came & went with 1 hand delivered card, each of our children phoning with wishes & 2 lovely emails from blog pals, including someone called "Jo", & that was it. Still can't see anyone or go anywhere so a funny year for celebrating and more weeks of complete lockdown still to come we've been advised. Take care, stay safe & huggles.

  20. Hi Jo,
You don't need to publish this comment if you don't want to and I know you moderate your comments as I do.

I'm confused myself as I don't receive an email notification when you leave a comment on my blog, I only see your comment in those awaiting moderation in the old, legacy Blogger interface. I may be being stupid but I can't see a way to publish comments in the new Blogger interface and if there is no email notification then how do we publish the comments? Maybe I'm suffering from chemo brain :)

I have also lost your email address from my previous private blog and would love to stay in touch with you.

    1. I've published the comment as I'm unable to reply to you directly as although I do get an email when you comment, you don't display your email address on it so I don't have your email address either. You can find mine by clicking on my name in the 'About Me' section in my sidebar. I think it all depends who your email provider is whether an email is sent when you comment or not. I'm still using the old Legacy system so I haven't actually looked how to moderate comments on the new system yet. Obviously, there must be a way to do it. I shall have a look at it today.

    2. Okay, I've just had a look. When you first click on comments all the ones awaiting approval come up. There's a tick on the right had side which you need to click to approve them. It's as simple as that.

    3. Thank you Jo. I did notice you can put a tick by the comments but I was then looking for a publish button which I couldn't find. I was worried that when the old Legacy system disappears I wouldn't be able to publish your comments. I'll write a blog post later today and if you'd kindly leave a comment I'll put it to the test.
I have one person whose email notification goes into my spam folder which I've been marking forever as not spam and another blogging friend who can't leave a comment on my blog at all, it's all very strange.

    4. I also have someone whose email notification goes into my spam folder. Sometimes things just don't make any sense and it doesn't help when Blogger starts messing around with things again.
