Blue Lagoon

Isn't Blue Lagoon the perfect name for this West Yorkshire Spinners colourway?

I've finally finished Eleanor's socks and I couldn't be happier with them.

Blue Lagoon is the main colour with Blueberry Bonbon, also West Yorkshire Spinners, acting as the contrast for the cuffs, heels and toes.

I used the Sugar Frost Socks pattern by Marianne Heikkinen. I've used the same pattern previously and I wrote about it in my Sugar Frost Socks post. The first pair was also for Eleanor but look so different in another colourway. This time I used a different pattern for the toes as the Sugar Frost Socks pattern has you gathering remaining stitches on yarn pulled through them and it gives them a more pointy look, though Eleanor said they were perfectly fine. I just prefer a more wedged toe myself.

We're hoping to have a trip over to Nottingham to see Eleanor soon so it will be nice to take them with me to give to her, though I'm sure we'll all be out of woolly socks soon now that spring is nearly here.

    1. Ha ha, I knew you'd get hooked once you started. It was the same with me and I've always got a pair of socks on the needles now.

  2. Socks are so lovely-my favourite seashore colours. I put my woolen socks back on yesterday as my feet were frozen.

    1. I've never had mine off yet, even when the sunshine arrived in February. I do like my feet to be warm and cosy.

  3. I do like the colour of the socks you've made, they'll be a very welcome gift I'm sure. It's still sock weather here, hats and gloves weather today! I had a look at your pink socks, very nice too. Enjoy your trip to see Eleanor.

    1. I'm sure Eleanor will love them, though we haven't made firm plans yet to go over and see her. The weather wasn't so bad this morning but it's raining now this afternoon, definitely the weather for woollies.

  7. I have around 30 grams of the colourway left from a long ago pair, I was thinking of using it for toes, heels and cuffs on some plain red socks. I have the Sugar Frost pattern but always do a wedge toe down to 24 stitches and then kitchener stitch, it fits my feet.

    1. The great thing about leftover sock yarn is that it can be used up in a number of ways. Eleanor said that the toe which I followed from the pattern last time was comfy but a wedge toe is my preference to knit so I did it that way this time.

And winter is not over yet. She can still use them. :-)
