...but I couldn't resist buying more yarn when I saw what Tamiwicolors had on offer.
I've been under the weather this last week. I started last weekend with a sore chest and I thought uh-oh, this is usually the sign that something else is going to develop and sure enough, I've now got a full blown cold and a hacking cough. I shouldn't complain really as I'm not ill very often but I don't make a very good patient when I am.
So, when I stumbled upon Tamiwi's Etsy shop on Monday, feeling very sorry for myself, my defences were down and resistance was futile, I ended up popping three skeins into my online basket. I know, I know, it was only a couple of weeks ago that I was saying I had to use up some of my stash before I bought any more, but I needed cheering up, and cheered up I was when there was a knock on the door yesterday morning and I saw what the postman had delivered.
How quick was that? I only placed the order on Monday evening from an online shop which is based in Germany and it was delivered on Saturday morning.
I'm so happy with all three of my choices, Yellow Primrose, Beth is the pink one and the green one doesn't have a name. These photos don't show them at their best but if you take a look at the online shop, the colours show up much better there.
I went for the Strong Sock range, 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon. I don't think it's quite as soft as some other yarn I've bought in the past, it's a little more woolly if you know what I mean, but I'm very happy with it and it was a fantastic price for hand dyed yarn. Tamiwi does sell a Soft Sock base which, I presume, is softer than the Strong Sock and it's still a very good price if that's what you're after.
Attached to Tamiwi's business card was a cute little owl progress keeper which I'll put to good use and a little packet of Haribos was also included in the parcel.
I'm still feeling very ropey today so I shall dose myself up, squish my gorgeous new yarn, and I'm sure I'll feel much better.
That yarn does look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are even prettier in real life.
DeleteYour yarn looks lovely, I'm sure it did bring cheer. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt always cheers me up when the postman brings a yarny parcel.
DeleteIt would be rude not to buy such pretty yarn.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true. I was spoilt for choice, so many beautiful colours to choose from.
DeleteI hope you are feeling better soon, our crazy weather does not help, often I have to change at lunchtime my clothes as I’m either not hot enough or too hot.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've just been in the shower and I feel totally washed out now, it was such an effort. You're right about the weather, it was rather chilly yesterday then we had rain overnight, it's a little warmer today and set to get warmer still over the next couple of days before the temperature drops again. That's if we can believe the forecast!
DeleteSorry to hear that you have been poorly Jo hope you'll be on the mend soon. Your yarn looks lovely and what a nice touch to include the little owl and I suspect the Haribo's went down a treat.

Thank you, I doubt it can last much longer now. I've never had a bad experience when buying from Etsy, the sellers on there usually go above and beyond to make the buying experience a little more special.
DeleteI hope that you feel better soon. Your post title applies to gardeners as well... xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, things are so tempting, aren't they?
DeleteOh dear, now I am going to have a look.....
ReplyDeleteHa ha, don't say I didn't warn you.
DeleteYour new yarn shades look lovely. Remind me of ice cream. X
ReplyDeleteThey do look like ice-cream colours.
DeleteI hope you feel better soon, Jo. Your yarn purchases are gorgeous. :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you. Today is the first day I've felt anywhere near myself so I'm hopefully on the mend.
DeleteOh dear, so sorry to hear you are poorly, a horrid cold is bad enough but its beastly when you get the cough too. Hope its on the way out now, amazing how a simple shower knocks you out. What a lovely way to cheer yourself up, hopefuly you will feel up to having a knit. I search for Tamiwi colours, some lovely colourway, but a bit expensive!? or am I totally out of touch of the cost of hand dyed yarns? probably! xcx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm really not good with coughs and colds, I'm a bit of a wimp. It's a good job I don't often get them. I think Tamiwicolors are quite reasonable compared to some dyers who charge in excess of £20 for a skein of basic sock yarn. It is a luxury though and I do still use commercial yarn too.
DeleteHope you feel better soon. Love the yarns, the international post is amazing these days.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was really surprised that the parcel was delivered so quickly, it really cheered me up on Saturday morning when the postman delivered it.
DeleteGet well soon Jo. Not the time of year to have a cold, as summer is on the way. Lovely colours in the yarn. Take care & huggles.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I always used to get colds around Christmas time but looking back I had a chest infection at this time last year so I hope it's not going to be something I'm prone to as summer approaches.
DeleteThose yarns are very pretty. I had a good coupon code for a craft site today and I allllmost bought more yarn, but I stopped myself just in time. :) I'm trying so hard to use up what I have, but as soon as I do, I'm off to the yarn-buying races again. :)
ReplyDeleteI admire your willpower. I keep saying that I need to use up some of my stash before I buy more but then I see something else which tempts me, it's very difficult.
DeleteYou're going to be far too busy with your wool to have a cold! Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteYou may be right. Thank you.
DeleteHappy squishing!
ReplyDeleteI can't resist!
DeleteOh dear Jo, I hope you are feeling much better today.
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn, I'm sure you will make something wonderful with those lovely colours.
I went to a yarn festival at the weekend and although I don't need to add to what I've already got I bought quite a lot, lol. Good job Mark never questions what I buy ;-)
I'm definitely on the mend now, thank you, though coughs tend to be annoying and linger for a while. I'm quite impulsive when it comes to buying yarn and rarely have projects in mind. Mick never questions what I buy either, in fact, he's been known to encourage me to buy more. I hope you're going to do a post about your purchases, I'd love to see.
DeleteOh no, I'm sorry to hear you are feeling low with a grotty cold. I think the yarn order is a perfect little pick me up!
ReplyDeleteThat yellow looks gorgeous. And a little Haribo treat thrown in, what a sweet surprise!
Lisa x
It's amazing how a little yarn shopping can cheer me up. I think the yellow yarn is my favourite, I'm really into yellow at the moment.
DeleteSick or not, who can resist purchasing more yarn? Not me! You made lovely choices and that marker is so cute.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of colds, my throat has been sore since last night, which is usually a sign that a cold is on the way, so I'm right here with you. Hope you feel better soon :)
It's always a big temptation when I come across such gorgeous yarn. Thank you, I'm feeling much better today and have been out for a lovely walk for the first time in a while. I hope you're feeling better soon too.
DeleteHope you are feeling a little better and that squishing the yarn helped, it certainly does look very squishable and gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling much better today, thank you. I'm sure all the squishing I've done must have helped.
DeleteOh you poor thing, I've had that hacking cough for ages, I do hope yours goes soon and you feel better. I totally agree re you cheering yourself up with some delightful yarn, you squish away my dear gal!xxx
ReplyDeleteI don't know why it is but coughs seem to linger for ages after the cold disappears. I'm feeling much better now, though of course the cough is still very much there.
DeleteWell we all understand purchases for medicinal purposes of course! LOVE the green, but all are pretty. The little owl is adorable. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Thank you, I'm feeling so much better today. I don't often go for greens but I thought this one was so pretty.
DeleteJust love the colourways too ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
It was so hard to choose, there were so many gorgeous colours for sale.
DeleteA small purchase is guaranteed to make anyone feel a little better, and these yarns are lovely. I hope you're fully recovered.
ReplyDeleteI've still got a bit of a lingering cough but they tend to hang around for ages. A bit of retail therapy does me the world of good though.
