Tequila Sunrise Socks

Yes, another pair of socks. I might just manage to get a pair of hand knitted socks on all my family's feet this Christmas. This latest pair are for my mum and as they're knit in West Yorkshire Spinner's Signature 4 ply in the Tequila Sunrise colourway, I've unimaginatively named them Tequila Sunrise Socks.

Once again, I used the Vanilla Latte Socks pattern by Virginia Rose-Jeanes which is free on Ravelry. I knit a 1x1 rib and put in an Eye of Partridge heel. I didn't think the stripes were matching up, but they're almost perfect.

I'm very happy with them.

My poor mum is back in hospital again, she was rushed in by ambulance on Tuesday morning as she was having trouble breathing and her oxygen levels were very low. I'm not sure how long she'll be in for so it's back to hospital visiting for us, so please bear with me if I'm not around as much as usual.

I hope your mum will be OK and make sure you take some time for yourself too. I've discovered this last week just how time consuming hospital visiting can be. Much love. X

  6. They look great! I'm almost finished my Christmas knitting - unbelievably! Halfway through the "I'll Pack a Cowl for Rhinebeck" cowl for my daughter and then I'm done. Starting early really does make such a big difference - all fun and no stress.

Lovely socks!! I love that yarn, West Yorkshire Spinners, right? I still haven't done that Vanilla Latte pattern. You sure are selling it! Alas I have SO many things to knit this end of year. I will do it soon :)

    1. Thank you. I'll be going to see her later today, I'm hoping to see an improvement. I love the West Yorkshire Spinners Cocktail range, they're such lovely colours. I like the Vanilla Latte pattern when I'm knitting for other people as it's quite forgiving, it has a little more give than a plain sock so a good pattern if you're not totally sure of someone's foot measurement.

    1. I started my Christmas knitting early this year so that I wasn't at the last minute, it's certainly saved a lot of stress. My mum seems to be improving slowly but hospital visiting certainly takes it out of you.

  20. I’ve just started knitting and must say I am loving it so far I’ve made some gloves a baby hat and some scarves but I do want to try socks and yours look so fab they are inspiring me. I hope your mum gets well soon it’s so tiring when someone is in hospital with the trips back and forth and the worry on top so for both hers and your sake I wish her a speedy recovery.

    1. It's wonderful to embark on a new hobby. Do have a go at socks, but beware, they become addictive, especially as there's such fabulous sock yarn to be bought. Thank you, you're right, hospital visiting is very tiring, but so is the worry, I look as though I've got suitcases underneath my eyes at the moment, never mind bags.

The colours in the socks remind me of the chewy fruit salad sweets.

  25. Jo, they are absolutely lovely! If I knew how to knit, I would be knitting my little heart out on socks as well. I do crochet, but socks that are crocheted just don't quite hit the mark! All of the socks that you have on display on the right of your blog are just gorgeous! Tammy
