Ooops! Sorry Eleanor

Yesterday, I told you about Eleanor's GCSE grades. I actually told you wrong. It's only come to light today that she's done better than we thought.

Eleanor took a Certificate in Digital Applications, an ICT subject. The grades given for this are Distinction, Merit, Credit or Pass and are equivalent to two GCSEs. She was given a Merit, which I wrongly thought was equivalent to a B, however, it's actually an A, so instead of the 1 A, 8 B's and 2 C's we thought she'd got, she's actually come out with 3 A's, 6 B's and 2 C's. She's even more over the moon with her results now.

I thought I'd better set the record straight.

All three of us went out for something to eat last night and it was really lovely. Eleanor rounded off her meal with a huge slab of chocolate fudge cake, ice cream and strawberries, a great way to celebrate.

    1. It was me who told her the Merit was a B so I feel awful now, but at least it's come to light today.

    1. It certainly is. Mick and I rarely eat dessert when we go out so we didn't have any, but Eleanor definitely enjoyed hers.

  3. I think that calls for even more chocolate cake for Eleanor! :o)

    1. It definitely does, though it doesn't really change anything in the grand scheme of things. So long as she'd tried her best in the exams, which she did, and so long as she got on the courses she wanted to take, which she has, that's all that matters really.

  5. Well done Eleanor and big huggles from down under, although I am sitting in New Farnley, fighting with this new notebook. Have a great weekend and take care.

  6. Even better then. We went out this evening to celebrate and had a great time. How lucky are we to be able to be so proud of our children? It makes all the hard work so worth while. X

    1. Eleanor's chuffed to bits as she put a lot of effort in to her ICT, well, she put a lot of effort in to everything actually. Glad to hear your celebrations went well. We are lucky to have children to be proud of.

    1. I think that's the main thing. If they've tried their best, they can't have any regrets. We're very proud of Eleanor.

  8. Congratulations to Eleanor, she's done brilliantly. I think I shall die of fright when it's my turn to watch them do their GCSE's. I'm glad you can all relax and celebrate now! CJ xx

    1. Thank you. It's such a nerve wracking time watching them go through these stages. I had Daniel go through GCSEs, AS levels and then A levels and now, with no break in between, we've started again with Eleanor.

    1. Thank you. We're all so proud of her, she really worked to get these grades as exams don't come easy to her, but she got there with a lot of determination. There's a teacher training day on the 1st of September so school doesn't open again until the 2nd, but only those students in Year 12 who haven't got their A levels sorted out or have a problem with their results have to go in on the 2nd or 3rd, so she's not back until the 4th, which is nice actually as it's my birthday on the 3rd and she'll be at home with me.

  12. Even better! The results forms are so complicated now its no wonder it wasn't clear straightaway.

Glad Eleanor enjoyed her celebratory meal!

    1. Eleanor spent a lot of time on her ICT after school, so I'm really pleased that she's been rewarded with 2 As. It goes to show that hard work does pay off, and it's a good lesson for her as she starts her A levels.
