It's All Over Now

It's been like Revision Central here for the last few months. Daniel's been taking his A levels and Eleanor has been taking her GCSE mock exams, followed by Science module exams which count towards her GCSE's.

Eleanor's last exam was last week, and Daniel sat his final exam, Physics, today. He's not home yet so I don't know how he feels it's gone. It's nerve wracking as a parent, though both Daniel and Eleanor are pretty calm about exams, which is a good thing.

Daniel got offers from the five universities he applied to, which he's had to whittle down to a first and second choice, but he'll need very high grades for them to take him. He's hoping to study Physics with Astrophysics.

A Level Results Day is on 15th August, so we've got quite a while to wait yet to find out how he's done. Fingers crossed.

    1. There definitely was. He's been locked away with a pile of books for weeks now so it will be nice to see a bit more of him.

  3. I hope things have gone well for Daniel and Eleanor. KL's last A level exam was last Thursday so we are enjoying a bit of respite before the worry about whether she has got the grades needed for her first choice kicks in. Her boyfriend is going in to his last year at uni this time, and also studies English Lit. He was an absolute star at going over things with her and helped enormously. August will be busy for us - we have results day, K and A's wedding and KL's 18th birthday.

    1. I think you're wise enjoying a bit of respite, August is going to be so busy for you. It's good that KL's boyfrend could help her with her revision. Daniel did some revision with a friend but most of it has been done on his own.

  4. I totally agree with you, I have been far more nervous about exams than my son. What will I be like on results day? Hope he gets the grades he needs x

    1. I think there's a few anxious mums around at the moment, it's a wonder I've got any fingernails left. Good luck to your son, I hope he's done well.

    1. It's a big relief. There's plenty of other things to take our minds off results day, though I'm sure we'll be counting down as the time gets nearer.

  6. Fingers crossed that Daniel does well and gets to go to his University of choice. We've had tears here yesterday, Maths exam didn't go too well!

    1. Oh dear, unfortunately some exams go that way. I've always explained to my two that exams are there to help you learn, at least you know which bits you're stuck on if you've got the question wrong and you can learn that for next time. It's disappointing if they've put a lot of effort in though. Hope she's feeling a bit better now.

    1. They're not subjects I'd have chosen, but he's always been in to Maths, and I suppose Maths and Physics go hand in hand.

  10. Hope all goes fine for both of them. Clever young man if he can get into one of his main choices and wow, I can't imagine studying those two subjects. I've got all my fingers crossed for him.

    1. He's really wanting to study these subjects so I hope he can get the results he needs. It's very competitive for places on the course so he'll have to do well if he's to get in to his university of choice.

  12. Fingers crossed for the both of them, we went through the same last. I shall never forget A'level results day last year, Rob had his first choice confirmed by email before he had his results. The memory of the three of us dancing round his computer will stay with me forever.xx

    1. What a weight off your mind, especially not having to wait for his results. I think it's a tall order for Daniel to get the grades he needs for his first choice, but we're still keeping our fingers crossed.

  13. Good luck to both of them. I think we adults worry more than our children do though.

  15. Oh goodness, what a relief it's over! I really, really hope they get the grades they deserve. It must be so hard watching them go through it, but I guess it's one of those parenting moments where you have to be around them supporting them but they have to do it themselves. x

    1. They definitely have to do it for themselves, I don't have a clue when it comes to the subjects they're taking, I'm no help at all. They've both put so much effort in that I hope they get the grades they deserve.

I'm so happy for them and you!

    1. I think you have to work hard to achieve what you want to achieve, it isn't going to be handed to you on a plate, so I hope I've managed to get this message across to them both. They have both put lots of effort in so I hope they do well.

    1. I'm glad the A levels are over with for one of them, it's such a stressful time. GCSE's again next year, followed by AS levels and then A levels for Eleanor, it seems never ending.
