On My Own

It was Eleanor's birthday in July and when asked what she would like for her present, she replied another session in the recording studio, so that's what she got. We made the booking for yesterday and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

This time she decided to sing On My Own, a song from Les Miserables. She didn't sing this in the show, it's sung by Eponine, but it's a song she's always loved from her favourite musical.

I thought you might like to hear the recording, so after hours of struggling to get it on YouTube and then on to the blog, and with much help from Eleanor as I wouldn't have had a clue how to do it myself, here it is.

I hope you enjoyed it.

  12. What a treat for us Jo, Mr Sft and I are snuggling up in bed listening to your girl's beautiful voice. She is a star and clearly following her dreams.

Archie is a lucky dog, I'd give anything to have a beautiful crochet blanket like that. Maybe one day.

Don't know about the Shades of Grey but I love your new books.

Rebecca is one of my favourite novels OF ALL TIME! Just amazing, I read it and re-read it....The film is great too. That's a beautiful copy you've got. A bit like a copy of A Passage to India by E.M.Forster that I've bought recently.

WHEN you have finished with THE BIG TENT PARTY I'll gladly swap it for one of the other No.1 Ladies Detect agency books you haven't read. If that's ok?

    Sft xx

  15. She sounds great. Please pass on my congratulations! When I saw the first part of your post in my 'dashboard' I really hoped that you would have found a way to share the results of the session. Eleanor would be more than welcome in my Music dept at any time!!!! Jx

  16. Thank you for all your lovely comments, Eleanor was thrilled with them all.

The backing track was in a different key to which Eleanor is used to, so some bits of the song are a bit wobbly, but Eleanor enjoyed doing it and that's all that's important.

Sft - I'm reading the books in the order they were published so I won't be reading The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party just yet as I'm only on book six. The only books I'm missing are The Double Comfort Safari Club and The Limpopo Academy Of Private Detection, which I'd love to swap if you have either.

  18. Thank you. This was Eleanor's second time in the studio, we bought her the same present for her birthday the year before, and she's asked for the same again this year, so it's a big hit.
