I went off them a bit whilst knitting them as I'm not keen on the yarn, it splits really easily and it's dyed in such a way that the shading makes the socks look odd.
As I'm addicted to socks I've now started another pair. I really like this yarn, it's really soft and I like the patterning.
I don't think this pair will take quite as long as the last ones did.
Oh I think your socks look wonderful! I haven't knitted socks in a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteWow - those look like an awful lot of work! What size needles do you work on? When I knit it's never with anything smaller than a size 6. Enjoy the new project and thank you for all your kind comments on my blog. Jx
ReplyDeleteI got an invitation to the "Knit Show" in Warwickshire May 15th/16th - trade are you interested? I can't knit you see.
ReplyDeleteThey're really lovely. Must have been real pain when your yarn kept splitting. Not fun :0(
ReplyDeleteWhat yarn are you using for your new socks?
Jill x
Oooh I wish I could knit socks!
ReplyDeleteVictoria xx
I love the colours in the blue ones, makes me wish I could knit. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your lovely comments.
ReplyDeleteJan- I use size 2.5mm needles, which is the old size 13.
Denise- Thank you very much for the offer. It would mean Mick driving me and I don't think he'd be very happy to hang around a knit show, so I won't take them, but I hope you manage to find someone who would like to go as I'm sure there'd be many people who would be thrilled to have tickets. Thank you for thinking of me though.
Jill- The yarn I'm using for the new socks is Regia Design Line 'Jazz Color'. I managed to pick a couple of balls up in the Hobbycraft sale.
Thanks again for all your comments, very much appreciated.
i wouldnt know where to start but what a great job you have done x
ReplyDeleteLove the socks- is that Noro yarn you're using? I keep trying to teach myself how to knit on double pointed needles but it all goes horribly wrong! Yours look fab x
ReplyDeleteIve never had a go at socks - they look too advanced for me. xxx
ReplyDeleteWell done! They look great, I bet they are really difficult!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the kind comments you have left on my blog! Sorry it's taken so long to get back, I have enjoyed my visit and am a follower!
Thanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteFreerangegirl - The top socks are made using Regia Hand-Dye Effect, I've never used Noro.
I always thought that socks would be too advanced for me but I bought some yarn from Get Knitted and they supply you with a free sock pattern which is really easy to follow. As for double pointed needles, they're a bit fiddly for the first few rounds but after that they're really easy to use.
