A New Cast On

It seems ages since I've cast on anything new. I've been trying to finish off what was on my needles already and now that the only things I've got on the go are long term projects, it's time to start some new things.

The Wildflowers & Honeycomb Socks pattern by This Handmade Life has been in my Ravelry queue for such a long time, I'm so pleased to finally make a start. It's such a pretty design and reminds me of the white ankle socks I used to wear to school with the little eyelet details.

I went stash shopping for some yarn and pulled out a skein of merino/nylon by Craft House Magic in the Rio colourway, inspired by the Duran Duran song. I thought the beautiful pale yellow with speckles would be perfect for this pattern.

As you can see, I haven't made much progress yet but I'm sure it's going to be a lovely knit.

This is just the first of my planned new cast ons, more to follow.

    1. I'm using KnitPro Zings. I really like these needles, I've got a set of interchangeable needles in the Zings too. The yarn reminds me of spring too.

  4. That looks such a sweet colour and the quatrefoil is a nice easy lace stitch. I has a few waistcoats and slipovers in that lace pattern back in the 70's and 80's. Best, Jane x

    1. The pattern is enough to give a bit of interest but nothing too complicated that you have to concentrate, and it's so pretty.

    1. It's a beautiful colour. Lucy designs such lovely blankets and the yarn packs are so accessible even to those in other countries now. I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable project.

    1. It is. I seem to have been on with other things for such a long time that I haven't cast on anything new for ages.

  14. I have a couple of languishing projects that I really need to make some headway in...but I just keep casting on new things instead as neither of the old ones make for good tv knitting, which is what I mostly do these days as there's so little quiet time during the day.

    1. I think it's good to have different projects on the go for different occasions. I like something nice and easy for TV knitting, whereas I don't mind something that I have to think about a bit more for the times I'm on my own.

    1. I think the yarn and pattern go so well together. I always had long socks at school in the winter and short ones in the summer.
